  • The Manchester City footballer wants to build a new first floor entertainment suite at his place in Prestbury
  • Along with Annie Kilner, 27, he wants to extend the ground floor of the pool building to include a new sauna steam room
  • But a number of neighbours have objected to the local council, with one even claiming that the size of the proposed extension could affect their mental health
  • They also say a similar double-storey building on the site was rejected in 2006
  • Walker, 31, bought the property from ex-Stoke player Stephen Ireland in 2019

England star Kyle Walker is facing an off pitch battle with neighbours on the eve of the Euros over a plan to extend his £3.5million mansion

The 31-year-old Manchester City ace wants to build a new first floor entertainment suite with a terrace above his existing indoor swimming pool which has a waterfall.

The plans also involve extending the ground floor of the pool building to include a new sauna steam room.

But the proposals have enraged several of his neighbours in leafy Cheshire who have registered objections to a planning application.

Objection letters lodged with Cheshire East Council include one from a neighbour claiming that the enlarged building would be ‘very overbearing’ and block out sunlight.

The neighbour even claimed that the size of the extension could affect the mental health of local residents who are forced to look at it in Prestbury, Cheshire.

The plans (above) have appeared on the local council website and have upset his neighbours

Walker’s fiancee Annie Kilner, 27, submitted the plans for the extension in May, shortly before the right back was told he was in Gareth Southgate’s squad.

Land Registry documents show that Walker, 31, and his school sweetheart Annie bought their six bedroom house complete with five a side football pitch in 2019 soon after he moved to Manchester City.

The property previously belonged to Stoke Ace Stephen Ireland and backs onto a house once owned by Wayne Rooney.

Neighbours who have sent letters of objection to Cheshire East Council claim that plans for a similar double-storey building on the site were rejected in 2006.

One wrote: ‘Our home borders the property and the proposed extension will be very overbearing.

‘The proposed extension will block the light from our garden, putting it into shade for much of the day.

‘The area of our garden located just a couple of metres from the proposed extension used to be a picturesque part of the garden down by the brook. This proposed extension will plunge it into darkness and make it unusable.

‘The view from our property is south facing, the proposed extension will transform our view into that of a wall and roof.’

The neighbour said that Walker’s plans represented an ‘increased version’ of the proposal rejected 15-years-ago and represented an over-development of the site.

Their stinging letter added: ‘The plans provided do not communicate the significant impact that this proposed extension will have on our home.

‘The planning committee are welcome to stand in our garden to see for themselves just how imposing this proposed extension would be.

‘Lastly, all our lives have been significantly affected because of the pandemic. Our homes have now become our place of work and also our place of refuge.

The plans show that as well as a first floor entertainment suite with a terrace, the couple want to extend the swimming pool area at their family home

‘We are very fortunate to have such a lovely garden, and it was a large part of the reason that we decided to live here.

‘We spend a lot of time in our garden, all year around, and this proposed development will take that sanctuary away from us.

‘Mental health is a hot topic these days, and the proposed development would bring a lot of unnecessary stress and sadness to the people who would have to look at it from their homes.’

The neighbour also suggested that flooded had been caused ‘on numerous occasions’ by an unsuitable and poorly maintained culvert built over a brook on Walker’s land, causing more stress for local residents.

Two other neighbours have also registered objections, complaining about the size of the proposed extension and the risk of flooding.

One claimed that land being dug up for new foundations or piling would ‘almost certainty affect’ the brook and neighbouring land.

Their letter to the council ended: ‘We suggest you visit the site to see for yourself. I strongly object to the proposed works and oppose the application.’

In a further headache for Walker, planning records show that Prestbury parish council has also objected and has called for the plant room area to be sound proofed if permission is given.

Walker and Annie (pictured on holiday) managed to move on from his infidelity and he popped the question to her with a £250,000 engagement ring which he reportedly helped design

Parish clerk Mark Wheelton said: ‘It is felt that the proposal will be overbearing to the plot and surrounding properties and there remains concern over flooding created by recent adjacent developments.

‘The Council notes that a similar application has previously been refused.’

But in some positive news for Walker, the flood risk officer for Cheshire East Council said he had no objection to the plans in principle, although he called for ‘an appropriate drainage strategy’ to be drawn up.

The safeguarding authority for nearby Manchester airport also said it had no objection, but advised that any lights should be directed downwards instead of up into the sky ‘to prevent distraction or confusion to pilots.’

Walker won another battle to put up a 12ft high artificial ivy screen last year to stop people peering on to his property

His flash house includes an outside hot tub set in a raised deck, limestone stairs with a glass balustrade, four full bedroom suites as well as a two storey master bedroom suite with ladies and gentleman’s dressing rooms.

It also reportedly features a giant fish tank and a gym with an orange pool table, a family dining area, a sitting room and a large dining room.

Walker and Annie, who have three children, famously split up in March 2019 after she discovered he had been unfaithful with reality star Laura Brown.

During their split, Walker fathered another son Kairo with Lauryn Goodman during a whirwind romance.

But he later made up with Annie and popped the question to her with a £250,000 engagement ring which he reportedly helped design.

Miss Goodman took a dig at Walker earlier this week when she dressed their 14-month-old son Kairo in a Liverpool kit for pictures posted on Instagram.

She earlier slammed Walker for sharing social media pictures of his new football boots emblazoned with the names of his three sons with Annie, but making no mention of Kairo.
