Grieving daughter shares poignant note left by nurses revealing that her mother was ‘not alone’ when she died

A grieving daughter has shared the moving message nurses left among her mum’s belongings that revealed she was ‘not alone’ when she died.

The social media user, from Reading, discovered a brown box with a note from the nurse’s who treated her mother. 

The note read: ‘The nurses wanted you to know that your relative was not alone when they died. We sat with them and held their hands.’

The grieving daughter from Reading found the note among her mother’s belongings

‘This box contains a wooden heart with their finger print and a lock of their hair is tied with a ribbon. We are so sorry for your loss.’ 

Sharing the image,  the daughter, who asked to go by @DebraKi53686485, wrote: ‘I collected mums belongings from the hospital and amongst it all I discovered a brown box. 

‘On opening it up at home this note was on the top. I’m not asking for responses other than to say our nurses really are Angel’s in uniform and I shall clap a little louder tonight.’

Speaking to PA news agency, she said: ‘I’m astonished at the response I got but pleased so many have now seen the kindness shown to the patients in their last moments when family can’t be with them.

‘I just wanted to show others that may be in the same position, they will not die alone. We have caring nurses going the extra mile on our behalf.’

‘Well that’s me in bits… but how lovely.’ one Twitter user replied.

After seeing a huge response from other Twitter users, the Reading daughter said: ‘Been overwhelmed with the response to my tweet showing the note I found in mums belongings, I cant keep up anymore. 

‘Just want to say thank you everyone, nearly everyone, for your lovely responses which I have found truly incredible. So many lovely people out there.’
