The fourth season of Paramount’s gripping modern Western is hoped to return to screens later this summer. As fans wait for the highly anticipated return of Yellowstone, they’ve been taking a look back at the most recent episodes and may have unearthed a vital new clue.
Jamie Dutton (played by Wes Bentley) could be about to play a major role in the upcoming fourth season of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone.
The Hollywood director and screenwriter’s small screen hit wrapped up its latest instalment last year with a devastating hit on ranch owner John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his children.
With the family’s lives on the line heading into season four, viewers have already compiled a list of prime suspects.
While some fingers have been pointed at John’s neglected and adopted son, Jamie, a new theory has speculated his reign of terror is still yet to come.
In a recent Reddit post, one viewer spotted a brief yet impactful moment between Jamie and Market Equities rep Willa Hayes (Karen Pittman) which could lay the groundwork for season four.
User 7ruby18 posted: “Did anyone notice, in E3E10, the scene in Jamie’s office, how he treated Willa?”
Just before the horrific attacks on John and his children, Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes), Jamie meets with Willa in his office.
However, when Willa and her Market Equities team arrive, Jamie brushes right past her and greets the approaching Governor instead.
The post continued: “As he got up and seemed to walk toward her, Willa held out her hand to him and greeted him.
“Jamie walked right past her, didn’t even acknowledge her, and offered his hand in greeting to the Governor entering behind Willa.”
Since the series began in 2017, Jamie has struggled to escape from underneath his father’s shadow.
Although he is currently being tipped as a potential suspect for the attacks against his family, many viewers agree he has yet to assert himself as a potential threat in the ongoing war for the Yellowstone property.

However, this subtle yet impactful moment of dominance could prove Jamie is ready to come into his own and could even launch his own attack against Market Equities in the future.
The same fan went on: “I think that snub raises a whole bunch of questions about how Jamie now thinks of Willa and her entourage.
“I think he’s got some scheme brewing that might knock Willa and Market Equities for a loop in S4.”
Moreover, Jamie finally reunited with his biological father, Garrett Randall (Will Patton) towards the end of Yellowstone season three.
Although they didn’t exactly hit it off, Randall encouraged Jamie to ‘kill the king’ if he wanted to experience real power.
While much of the audience assumed Randall was talking about Jamie’s adoptive father, the shrewd attorney general may have interpreted his advice differently.
With Roarke Morris (Josh O’Connor) and Market Equities still a viable threat in season four, Jamie could make them his first targets before finally taking a stand against his abusive family.
Yellowstone season 4 will premiere in 2021 on Paramount.
