SEVEN celebrities of differing faiths and beliefs don backpacks and walking boots to tackle a modern-day, 2,200-km pilgrimage across Eastern Europe on the Sultans Trail.
We take you through who is taking part in BBC's Pilgrimage: The Road to Istanbul.
Who's in Pilgrimage: The Road to Istanbul line-up?
Pilgrimage: The Road To Istanbul is a journey of discovery and adventure for the celebrity pilgrims.
Donning backpacks and walking boots, they’ll stay in basic hostels, sleep in shared dorms, and follow a largely untrodden route.
Starting in Serbia’s capital city Belgrade, the pilgrims will travel through Bulgaria and the mountainous Balkans, before crossing the border into Turkey, with their goal of reaching Istanbul and the magnificent Suleymaniye Mosque.
Here's a rundown of the seven celebrities taking part:
Dom Jolly
Dom is a comedian and journalist is best known as the star of Trigger Happy TV and once ran as an MP for Kensington and Chelsea after he formed the Teddy Bear Alliance.
The hidden camera practical joke reality series ran for two series on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2003.
Dom was the sole star of the show, which he also produced and directed.
Adrian Chiles
Adrian is a television and radio presenter, who currently works for BBC Radio 5 Live.
The Birmingham-native previously co-hosted both The One Show and ITV's Daybreak with Christine Lampard.
Adrian also presented Match Of The Day 2 and was part of the World Cup coverage in 2006 and Euro Champs in 2008.
Edwina Currie
Edwina served as a Conservative MP for 14 years between 1983 and 1997.
In 2002, she published her diaries written during her time in government between 1987 and 1992.
She revealed she had a four-year affair with John Major – who went on to become Prime Minister – between 1984 and 1988 while both were married to other people.
Fatima Whitbread
Fatima Whitbread MBE is a former javelin thrower.
She won the 1986 European Championships in Stuttgart, having broken the world record with a throw of 77.44 metres in the qualifying round the previous day.
She went on to win the 1987 World Championships in Rome.
Pauline McLynn
Pauline is an Irish character actress and author.
She is of course best known for her roles as Mrs Doyle in the Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted.
However her other TV credits include Libby Croker in the Channel 4's Shameless and Tip Haddem in BBC One comedy Jam & Jerusalem.
Mim Shaikh
Mim is an award-winning 23-year-old broadcaster based in London.
The star is a presenter, comedian, actor and documentary maker who has been building a large online following thanks to his shows on both BBC 1Xtra and BBC Asian Network.
Mim has starred in a short film which was shortlisted at Sundance Film Festival and he also briefly appeared in BBC Three's South Side Story.
In 2018, he released his debut documentary titled Finding Dad. The show followed Mim on the search for his biological father.
Amar Latif
Amar is a British entrepreneur, motivational speaker, world traveller and TV presenter.
He has featured on a number of TV programmes including BBC Two documentary Beyond Boundaries as well as directing the Channel 4 documentary Sightseeing Blind which was broadcast in April 2007.
Amar was just four years old when doctors told his parents he would become permanently blind.
The star had lost 95 per cent of his sight by the time he was just 18 because of an incurable eye condition called retinitis pigmentosa.
However Amar has never let it stand in his way and has travelled the world, and is also a keen fund-raising public speaker.
When is Pilgrimage: The Road to Istanbul on TV?
The show kicks off TONIGHT (March 27, 2020) on BBC1.
