Who was Kirin and who did he kill on Emmerdale?
Kirin Kotecha (Adam Fielding) used to be a regular on Emmerdale, but his time in the Dales didn’t end well.
Kirin has been mentioned in recent scenes because Charity (Emma Atkins) needs his permission if she wants to adopt fiance Vanessa’s (Michelle Hardwick) son Johnny.
Unfortunately finding Kirin hasn’t exactly been straightforward because he’s been on the run for years…
Who was Kirin on Emmerdale?
Kirin is Sana and Rakesh Kotecha’s son and was on the soap from 2014 until 2016.
He had an on-off relationship with Vanessa and fathered her son, although Rakesh, who believed his son was too young to be a father, doctored DNA test results to show that Adam Barton was the father instead.
When the truth eventually came to light, Kirin striggled to bond with Johnny and buckled under the pressures of fatherhood.
One day he lashed out while he was looking after Johnny, and Vanessa threw him out of the house as a result.
Kirin reacted by going out on a drinking binge which culminated in him drunkenly hitting and killing teaching assistant Tess Harris with his car.
Instead of facing up to his part in her death, Kirin went on the run to South America, leaving a note behind for his father that read ‘Sorry I’m not the man you want me to be’.
He tried to send Vanessa a letter after he left, but she washed her hands of him once and for all when he confessed to her that he didn’t love Johnny. Ouch!
