TV star of BBC show The Nest accused of stabbing his own brother

A star of telly hit The Nest is facing prison over an alleged assault on his own brother.

Actor Paul Brannigan, who plays wayward Doddy on the BBC drama, was arrested and held by cops after a fight in Glasgow on New Year’s Day.

He was then charged with assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

Prosecutors claim Paul, 33, repeatedly stabbed sibling David, 29, during the row.

At the time, police confirmed the incident left a man hospitalised.

When Paul attended court on January 3 he made no plea and was released on bail.

Scotland’s public prosecution service last night confirmed to the Daily Star that the case is ongoing and Paul still faces the charges.

If he is found guilty the maximum sentence includes time behind bars.

The incident allegedly happened after Paul finished filming for The Nest, which marks his biggest TV role to date.

His character plays a key part in the storyline that is gripping more than four million viewers on Sunday nights.

The drama also stars Line of Duty’s Martin Compston, 35, and Sophie Rundle, 31.

It follows a couple’s plight after they hire a troubled teen to be their surrogate.

Paul was previously best known for a role in Scottish soap River City.

He also had a career high when he starred opposite Hollywood A Lister Scarlett Johansson, 35, in 2013 flick Under The Skin.

Their scenes together included a steamy romp.
