Tipping Point fans in stitches as ‘hot’ player gets Dick Turpin question wrong

Tipping Point was back on our screens this afternoon as ITV aired another throwback episode of the popular game show.

Host Ben Shephard welcomed four contestants to the famous ITV studio as they battled it out to win the highly sought after cash prizes.

Iain, Vanessa, Adam and Sue answered a series of questions to win turns on an arcade-style machine.

Dropping tokens down a choice of four chutes, they each hoped to knock piles of the counters off a moving shelve – the more they collected, the greater the prize fund.

Viewers were quickly distracted from the ITV quiz show by dishy contestant Adam.

One fan tweeted: "Adam's a bit of a cutie."

A second person posted: "God that Adam is a tasty dish ain’t he."

While a third viewer added: "Hello Adam."

However, thing didn't work out well for the contestant as he made a major blunder during the second round of the competition.

Host Ben asked Adam the surname of the famous highwayman called Dick whose exploits were romanticised following his execution.

The player didn't know the answer and simply guessed "Van Whittington."

Adam's blunder shocked host Ben as well as viewers at home who rushed to their keyboards to discuss the mistake

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Dick Van Whittington. Eh?"

A second person posted: "Well Adam f****d that right up."

Another added: "Dick Van Whittington? You couldn't make it up. Except he obviously did."

A fourth viewer said: "Dick Van Whittington? Yikes!"

"Dick Van Whittington? Damn nearly spat my tea out", said a fifth Tipping Point fan.

The correct answer Ben was looking for was Dick Turpin.

Sue was the first contestant to be sent packing during the latest episode of Tipping Point and she was quickly followed by Adam.

Vanessa and Iain went head-to-head in the third round and it was landscape gardener Iain who made it through to the final.

He took on the machine and managed to win the £10,000 jackpot.

Iain told Ben that he was going to spend his winnings on a new digger and planned to spoil his wife and children.

Tipping Point airs weekdays on ITV at 4pm
