Spoilers: Whitney discovers Michaela knew about Tony's abuse in EastEnders

Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) has been through hell over the last couple of months in EastEnders, but she’s in the middle of yet another ordeal as evil Leo King’s (Tom Wells) mum Michaela Turnbull (Fiona Allen) holds her captive — and the unfortunate situation leads to the young woman making a shocking discovery.

Whitney was put through hell last year as evil Leo attempted to get revenge on behalf of paedophile dad Tony (Chris Coghill), but he ended up dead during an altercation with the young woman — an incident which resulted in her being arrested.

Whitney faced prison in spite of the fact she was simply defending herself, but Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) managed to secure her bail, and has since done a lot of prep work for her approaching trial.

However, matters were complicated further when Michaela showed up in Walford, and she made clear that she holds Whitney personally responsible for the death of Leo.

Knowing Michaela was going to bring nothing but trouble, Whitney thought about doing a bunk, but Leo’s mum ended up taking her hostage instead — and threatened her at knife point in order to do so.

In the coming episodes, Whitney is horrified when Michaela admits that she knew about what Tony was doing — something which leaves Whitney incredibly angry.

What will transpire?

Meanwhile, Gray and Max (Jake Wood) are on hand to try and rescue Whitney, but will they succeed in doing so?

One to watch: Monday 4 May at 8pm on BBC One.
