Spoilers: Peter in Corrie gives up and prepares to die

Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) in Coronation Street is turning to drink to cope with his problems at any given opportunity.

However, with Peter being fully aware that drinking alcohol again could be enough to kill him, you’d think that would be enough to make him stop – but unfortunately, much to Carla’s (Alison King) sadness, it isn’t.

After Peter recently revealed to Carla that he’s been in hospital with liver failure, he became adamant Carla can’t look after him and soon, with his problems getting even worse, Peter gives up, and prepares to die from the damage his alcohol addiction is doing to his body.

First though, there’s a moment of hope as Peter returns from Scotland and explains he hasn’t touched a drop of alcohol. But at the hospital, Peter is told there’s no improvement in his liver function. As he leaves the hospital, a fellow patient awaiting a transplant makes a dig about alcoholics.

Peter calls at the solicitors and instructs Adam (Sam Robertson) to draw up an ‘Advance Decision to Refuse Treatment’ declaration, insisting he isn’t deserving of a transplant.

Ken (William Roache) implores Peter not to throw his life away, but after everything that’s happened, will Peter be swayed?
