Queen of the South: Alice Braga confirms the one person Teresa would never trust

Queen of the South: Alice Braga teases season five filming

Cartel thriller Queen of the South is set to make its exciting return for season five in 2021. Available on Netflix and USA Network, drug queenpin Teresa Mendoza already faced some tough challenges in season four, including ruthless right-hand man Randall Green.

Lead star Alice Braga has detailed who she thinks has been the least trust-worthy character over the last four seasons of Queen of the South.

In the latest instalment in 2019, Teresa fled the Vargas cartel to Louisiana and tried to take over the streets of New Orleans with her own product.

Unfortunately, the mogul didn’t bank on coming into conflict with local law enforcer, Judge Cecil Lafayette (David Andrews).

Her life was put at risk several times over the course of season four, including a rigged car explosion which killed her godson Tony Parra (Julian Silva) and left her hospitalised.

Although Teresa still needs to take down the corrupt judge in season five, Braga still felt his right-hand man Randall Green (Cory Hart) was an equally formidable foe.

As the dust settled on the fourth season, Braga took to her personal YouTube channel to answer questions from dedicated fans.

When one viewer asked about Randall, she said: “He is the villain that we love to hate.

“I think Randall is not someone Teresa would ever trust.”

Randall was a crucial player during Teresa’s war in New Orleans, and helped the Judge’s plan to build a new prison and rid the city of the queenpin and the rest of its drug scene.

He used a number of underhand tactics in his role, including intimidating Kelly Anne Van Awken (Molly Burnett) to try and get to Teresa.

Teresa is infamous for picking and choosing who she trusts, but Alice Braga had no reservations about her character’s opinion of Randall.

After her betrayal of Teresa in the previous season, she’s only just getting around to trusting Kelly Anne, in part because of her growing relationship with trusted sicario Pote (Hemky Madera).

Braga explained: “It was hard for her, but I think she does. Right now I think she does.

“I do think Teresa now trusts her. I think she’s learned from the past.”

However, the same certainly can’t be said of Randall, who quickly became one of Queen of the South’s most hated villains throughout his sporadic appearances in season four.

In one of the darkest moments of the series, Teresa’s ally Emilia (Sofia Lama) is caught out in a lie, and is shot and buried by Randall in the woods.

Thankfully, Randall won’t be around to cause more trouble when the series makes its comeback with season five.

During the dramatic finale of season five, Emilia’s boyfriend and one of Teresa’s sicarios Javier (Alfonso Herrera) takes his revenge by burning both himself and Randall alive.

After the shocking events of season four, including the surprise return of James Valdez (Peter Gadiot), fans are more hyped than ever for Teresa’s story to continue.

Queen of the South season 4 is available to stream on Netflix.
