Power Book II: Ghost is the first of four spin-off series from the original Power drama. Book II is about Tasha (played by Naturi Naughton) and Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr) and what happens to them just a few weeks after James “Ghost” St Patrick’s (Omari Hardwick) death. The midseason finale of series one was left on a cliffhanger which could see Tariq go to prison.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Power Book 2.
Power ended with the death of Ghost as he fell from his nightclub balcony when someone shot him.
The remaining episodes focused on the potential suspects and in the grand finale, the killer’s identity was revealed.
Tariq shot his father in a bid to protect his mother as well as to get his dad out of the way, so he can make a name for himself.
Unwilling to see her son go to prison, Tasha took the blame and ended up behind bars.
But in Power Book II season one, episode five, The Gift of Magi, Cooper Saxe’s (Shane Johnson) niece Riley (Andrea Lee Christensen) drugged Tariq.
Then, in a confused and emotional state, Tariq went to his twin sister Raina’s (Donshea Hopkins) grave and said how she needed to save him a “spot in heaven” for all that he’s done.
Saxe recorded this “confession” and gave it to Tariq’s defence lawyer Davis Maclean (Method Man).
This was enough for him to sell his client out and join forces with Saxe.
What will happen when Power Book 2 series returns?
As both of the lawyers are now working together against Tariq, it’s not looking good for the young drug dealer.
Maclean is paid by Tariq but is representing Tasha, so could this be the evidence he needs to get her off and put her son in jail?
Even though Tariq didn’t exactly confess to Ghost’s death, he said enough to make the lawyers think he did it.
Creator Courtney Kemp has teased how there is a lot more to come in the second half of season one.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Kemp said: “Oh, it gets so much more intense. All of the relationships get much more complicated.
“Tariq has to make some decisions, some familiar faces from Power show back up. It’s intense.”
At the beginning of the series, Tasha blamed Ghost’s killing on his former right-hand man Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).
Kemp hinted at Tommy’s return to TV Line saying: “I don’t know: If somebody said in court that I did something that I didn’t do, I might feel compelled to show up, maybe, and talk to them about it?”
There could be a chance actor Hardwick may return to the Power world as well.
Ghost is dead but this doesn’t mean Hardwick couldn’t come back as someone else.
In a live Q&A on Instagram, a fan asked if Ghost had a secret sister.
To which Kemp replied: No. Not a sister.”
“Hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint.”
The Power creator did say there would be some “familiar faces” in the next half, so could Hardwick return as the brother of Ghost?
Power Book 2 is available to watch on Starz.
