Lucifer season 5B is expected to return to Netflix in early 2021 as viewers find out what its next for Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) and Chloe Decker (Lauren German). However, before it is released, it has been confirmed by co-showrunner Joe Henderson one character will be killed off. Here’s what you need to know about this.

Which character dies in Lucifer season 5B?

The first eight episodes of Lucifer season five were released on Netflix back in August for fans.

Ever since they launched, viewers have been desperate for any new information about the second half of the series.

So far, it has been confirmed the show has finished filming and it is in post-production.

As well as this, some other potential storylines have also been teased about the series.

One major spoiler is the upcoming death of a beloved character on the show.

This was first teased in the synopsis for season five released by Netflix back in June.

This read: “In the stunning fifth season, the stakes are higher than ever!

“Secrets will be revealed, beloved characters will die, and we’ll finally get an answer to the question, ‘Will they or won’t they?’”

Speaking at the Baltimore Comic-Con recently, Henderson revealed this was true and would happen very soon.

He said: “There is a beloved character who dies. It’s in 5B.

“Listen, our intent is to break hearts but also tell endings.

“Just because we were ending that doesn’t mean there aren’t other endings to tell in the next season – but there is an ending coming up.”

However, just who the unlucky character will be has not yet been revealed.

Originally season five was going to be the final season of the hit show but Netflix then brought it back for a sixth outing.

Therefore, whoever is killed off might not be returning to the final season of the show.

This is filming in Los Angeles at the moment and the showrunners have confirmed all episodes have been written.

Speaking about the final season to Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich also teased how they did not want to alter their series five ending too much.

She explained: That was another request we had [for the studio and streamer].

“We said, ‘Please don’t make us change what we have.

“Please don’t make us water it down,’ because we were so pleased with it and it’s so impactful.

“Again, everybody was just very on-board with it.”

This all means the final eight episodes are shaping up to be very dramatic when they return to screens.
