Love Island’s Chloe Burrows has hit back at criticism she’s received after she seemingly confessing to having an affair with a married man in her introductory VT.
Clarifying her comments ahead of entering the famous reality villa, the 25-year-old said they had been “taken out of context” and insisted she was no home wrecker.
Speaking to OK! and other press outlets, Chloe explained she wanted to clear matters up, saying: “Well, I didn’t have an affair. I think it’s been taken out of context because a few people have asked me, so I’ll explain it.”
Chloe, who works in marketing and lives in Bicester, continued: “I met someone at work and obviously really got in my feels about them, thought they were absolutely fantastic.”
“And then I found out he was married and had kids. Then I dumped him because I was like, ‘what the hell?’”
She added: “So it wasn’t an affair. That’s what that was.”
Further defending herself, the star added that her comments that she was “partial to a married man” had been misinterpreted.
Chloe explained: “I’m partial because I’ve been with, but I didn’t know he was married. So it’s not like, 'yeah, give me a married man!' Absolutely not!”
“I don’t want a married man, I don’t want a boy with a girlfriend, I don’t want a boy who fancies someone else.”
Chloe also insisted she was not looking for trouble in the villa and would be abiding by a strict girl code at all times.
She revealed: “If they’re coupled up, they’re coupled up for a reason. Why would I think that I could slide in there?
“If a boy is all over a girl and looking after her, that would put me off him because he’s with someone else. I don’t know if that’s the same for everyone, but immediately I wouldn’t want to see that.”
Chloe’s comments come after fans of the show were left unimpressed by the comments she’d made.
In the video, Chloe controversially said: “I mean I’m partial to a married man.
“I did meet someone at work, I thought it was love at first sight, until my manager reminded me of his wife and kids.”
Love Island starts on Monday 28th June at 9pm on ITV2
