Charlene White's secret acting career has been revealed after a clip of her starring in The Bill as a teenager has resurfaced.

The 40 year old has been a fixture on screens for years as a newsreader, but not many will know she spent time acting as a youth.

Loose Women panellist Charlene was surprised with the clip on Thursday's episode of the hit ITV lunchtime show as part of their 'throwback' segment.

Her co-stars Nadia Sawalha, 56, Linda Robson, 62, and Gloria Hunniford, 80, were left in stitches at the clip, which saw Charlene give a statement to the police as a cocky teenager.

Nadia, who also starred in the defunct crime show, exclaimed: "You look the same!," which the modest journalist denied, before she revealed her aspiration as a teenager was to act.

She revealed: "A teacher told my parents that I was quite good at drama so recommended that I went to drama school so I did part time on a scholarship for a little bit.

"I loved it, I loved doing all the bits and pieces but my parents, as immigrants, are very much like, 'acting is not a proper job, you most certainly cannot do that in the future' so when I reached 18 I was done."

When asked if having to suppress the actor inside of her made her sad, Charlene answered: "I don't know, I sometimes think if they'd have allowed me, where would I be now?

"But you wouldn't have me here if I'd done that, it's all worked out alright!"

The ITV News host then went on to reveal the exciting news that her nephew had been signed by Disney and would be starring in the upcoming Peter Pan & Wendy movie alongside Jude Law.

"Kalen has just signed with Disney. We grew up with Kalen's mum Vanessa, and he's flying off to Canada with his dad as his chaperone and he's going to be filming Peter Pan with Jude Law and Yara Shahidi.

"He's going to be the lead lost boy so we are very, very, very proud of him. In five years time he may not even remember who I am. Charlene who? Who's this?"
