Leigh-Anne Pinnock has talked about the relief she feels at having been able to tell her "beautiful news" before anyone else leaked that she was pregnant.

The Little Mix star announced her pregnancy on Tuesday with a series of photos showing off her bump, after months of keeping it a closely guarded secret.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast on Thursday morning, Leigh-Anne said: "I'm having a baby!

"It still feels so weird actually saying it because I've been hiding it so long, so I'm just so relieved that it's finally out there and I can relax and embrace my bump. I feel good."

Leigh-Anne, who is expecting her first child with partner Andre Gray, explained that she wanted to make sure there were no leaks about her happy news and why it was so important to share it herself.

She said: "It's such sensitive information, I wanted to be the one to tell the world and obviously when you're famous there are people who like to tell things and leak things so I just wanted to be that person to say my beautiful news.

"This felt like the right time for me to bring it out and say it."

Describing the logistics of keeping the secret as "really, really difficult", she added: "It's actually quite scary when you think about it, I wanted to be able to really enjoy the moment but I was worried it was going to come out and I wasn't going to be able to control that.

"It's something that's so sensitive and that you want to be able to own yourself, so I'm just really happy that I got to release that imagery and it came from myself."

Leigh-Anne called into BBC Breakfast from home, as did Little Mix bandmates Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall from their own houses.

They also spoke about adjusting to life as a trio after Jesy Nelson quit the group in December.

Jade said: "There's three members now so we've had to adapt especially when it comes to our existing music. It's definitely been a weird shift.

"But we as a three weren't ready to call it a day yet and we love doing this, being in Little Mix.

"So this year is all about we keep going and enjoy the ride. We're making the most of it and we're enjoying 2021 as a three."
