Laurence Fox appeared to swerve a question about his pop star ex-wife Billie Piper during his GB News interview with Dan Wootton on Wednesday night.

The 43-year-old actor has turned to turned political activism in the past 15 months following a controversial appearance on Question Time in January 2020.

He launched his mayoral campaign in March, vowing to "free" London and "reclaim people’s freedom".

Laurence appeared on Tonight Live With Dan Wootton to discuss his views on lockdown but conversation quickly turned to relationship with ex Billie, 38.

Broadcaster Dan, who launched his new show on Sunday, explained: "You're going to hate this question.

"Anytime I speak to anyone about you including when they knew you were coming on tonight, they all want to know what does Billie thing about this? And why does she never get asked about you now in interviews?

Laurence joked: "I think she's probably got a better PR team than I do.

"In terms of the fact she says 'I'm not going to answer that'.

"I don't know what she thinks about it. I don't have those sorts of conversations with her.

"We're divorced and we raise our kids together so you'd have to ask her I think on that one."

Laurence and Billie met in 2006 while rehearsing for a production of the Christopher Hampton play, Treats.

The couple tied the knot in a low-key church ceremony in West Sussex, attended by their respective co-stars.

They went on to have two sons together, Winston, 12, and eight-year-old Eugene.

The pair were married for eight years, with Laurence announcing their separation in March 2016.

They divorced in May of that year, confirming no other parties were involved and that their marriage had "irretrievably broken down".

Dan went on to ask Laurence: "Do you regret anything you've done over the past two years?"

The former Lewis actor quickly responded: "Million of things, on a daily basis I regret.

"But that's the most important thing in life, the right to regret and go 'you know what I was wrong there'."

GB News viewers rushed to their keyboards to discuss Laurence's television appearance.

One fan penned: "@LozzaFox on #GBNews a breath of fresh air, swirling around now that perspex barriers are banned due to spreading COVID! Every word he spoke was spot on. Thank you Laurence, keep on going."
