JILL Duggar has been slammed for creating a "fire hazard" by lighting a candle in bed.

The Counting On star, 28, shared a snap of a Yankee candle placed amid her sheets while discussing her and husband Derick's "quarantine date nights" during the coronavirus pandemic.

Jill wrote alongside the Instagram shot: "It can be hard to keep your romance alive when you’re stuck together all day but being intentional is so important to marriage life.

"I’ve got some tips & tricks that help us keep ours strong. PS… any good Netflix recs?? ⁣

"#stayhome #staysane #datenight."

Some of the reality star's followers were quick to point out that a lit candle in bed is an "unnecessary risk".

One wrote: "Fire hazard."

Another added: "A lit candle on the bed is quite the unnecessary risk… just saying."

A third posted: "No ones staying safe with a candle on the bed !!! Yikes."

Jill's fans leaped to her defense however, claiming that the photo she'd posted wasn't hers.

It comes after Jill's husband Derick Dillard claimed he'd have got "into trouble" if he'd shared personal information about himself on Counting On.

He said that he was not "allowed" to reveal his own engagement or baby news, in an interview with YouTube vlogger Katie Joy.

The 19 Kids & Counting alum revealed that he and wife Jill Dillard (née Duggar) had to filter all of their personal news through official channels.

“We weren’t even allowed to be the first ones to announce our own life events – our marriage, expecting our baby, our genders of our children, our births – not by our own choice,” Derick, 31, said in the interview.

“If I had to do it all over again, I would’ve announced myself when we were expecting and things like that, even if I would’ve gotten in trouble.”

The father-of-two also disagreed with the Duggar's view that wearing pants is immodest.

Derick’s wife famously wears pants, has piercings, and recently cut her hair.

Derick and Jill married in 2014 and have two children, Israel and Samuel.

Jill previously identified herself as one of the girls who her oldest brother Joshua Duggar had molested as a teen.
