I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! viewers have criticised Beverley Callard’s veganism after the Coronation Street actress was spotted tucking into a snack of bread and butter, followed by a dinner of oxtail. It comes a mere 24 hours after the icon took part in the first eating Bushtucker Trial, whereby the ITV producers had catered to her eating preferences and offered her all plant-based alternatives. Now, those watching at home are convinced Beverley is worming her way out of some trials.
The first night in camp, the celebrities were given rabbit to cook, followed by eel for the second evening.
Beverley was then nominated, alongside Vernon Kay and Jordan North to take part in the eating Bushtucker Trial.
But unlike her co-stars, she was given plant-based alternatives; fermented tofu and fermented plums after announcing her diet changes.
However, following the castle coin challenge, the celebrities were awarded with a snack of bread and butter – which Beverley happily devoured.
A few hours later and she tucked into a dinner of oxtail.
ITV viewers were confused; is Beverley really a vegan?
Taking to Twitter to comment, one said: “How did Beverly eat butter and bread if she’s vegan like I need verification it was vegan! Can’t even do a proper eating challenge?”
Another wrote: “Are you meant to eat butter if you are vegan?”
“So is Beverley getting a vegan substitute for every treat and meal? Bread and butter, oxtail,” someone else chimed.
A fourth commented: “Beverley Callard enjoying her Oxtail thought she was vegan!”
Meanwhile, one said: “Bev seeing that the meal is oxtail & not one of her vegan dishes.”
“The producers trying to figure out why bev is eating bread and butter when she’s meant to be vegan,” a tweet read.

Beverley’s fellow campmate, Mo Farah, has requested to eat only Halal meat.
And in previous series, there have been other celebrities who have had dietary requirements which needed adhering to; X Factor’s Fleur East and Coronation Street’s Sair Khan were both vegans in the 2018 series and they were given the green light not to take part in any tasks which required them to eat animal products if they didn’t want to.
Most vegan celebrities who enter the jungle – or this year the castle – usually give up the diet for their time on the show.
Elsewhere, Russell Watson and Ruthie Henshall joined the camp to complete the line-up.
The singer and star of stage took part in their first Trial.
But for Russell, he ended up injured.
Those watching at home saw him bobbing in a barrel, and as a result he chipped his tooth.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV.
