I'm A Celeb fever hits tiny Welsh town where show will film – with Ant and Dec plastered in every window

I'M A Celeb fever has hit a tiny Welsh town where the show will film – with Ant and Dec plastered in every window.

Locals, who are preparing to welcome a string of celebrities to the area, have decorated the high street with endless pictures of I'm A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec.

Shop owners in Abergele's high street in North Wales have gone all out to welcome the show by hanging I'm A Celeb memorabilia in shop windows, while a local artist even splashed a huge murial on the side of a building in a funny tribute.

Abergele's post office, beauty salon, pub and estate all paid homage to the I'm A Celeb after it was announced it will film in Wales for the first time ever.

Ant was seen whizzing down a zip line in one hilarious tribute as he grabbed hold of a gold star in a nod to the show's Bush Tucker trials.

And in a spooky nod to the celebs' new camp Gwrych Castle – which is said to be haunted – his and Dec's faces had been glued onto huge skeletons in a shop's Halloween window display.

The locals welcomed the show after the production crew landed in North Wales last month.

The presenters recently filmed the I'm A Celeb trailer in the area, showing the Geordie duo arriving in Wales.

However, the cheeky pair appeared to have missed the memo that they wouldn't be shooting in Australia for the first time in the show's history – and still believed they were Down Under.

In the video, cheery Ant McPartlin steps out of a cab into the Welsh countryside, exclaiming: "G'day Australia, ah it's great to be back."

He then unceremoniously steps in some cowpat, joking: "I would hate to see the kangaroo who left that!"

Meanwhile, Declan Donnelly believes he has slept through the 24 hour flight, pulling an eye mask from his face as he gasps: "Wow that was quick – I must have slept through the whole flight!"

They pay the cabbie in dingo dollars before being left confused by the sheep and general area – which looks nothing like their map of Australia.

The promo was filmed on location in Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, Wales and ends with the pair walking in the opposite direction to a signpost that directs them to the castle.

To add even more authenticity to the advert, a Welsh voiceover then teases that the series will be returning to our screens soon, with it set to launch in November.

The show is due to to start filming at Gwrych Castle in Conwy next month after ITV bosses splashed out more than £1million to hire the building for six weeks as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic ruled out the show's usual setting in the Australian jungle.

It is yet to be revealed which celebs will be appearing in the show, but Vernon Kay, AJ Pritchard, and Tamzin Outhwaite have all been linked.

Meanwhile, Ant and Dec filmed themselves being tested for coronavirus as they explained that they don't have to social distance while working together as they are checked for the deadly disease every four days.

The pair are in a bubble with each other's households, which helps them with presenting duties including the upcoming I'm A Celeb.
