How many seasons of StartUp are there?
StartUp is a popular series created by Ben Ketai and it follows a group of unlikely allies who create GenCoin, a form of cryptocurrency.
As they are not the best-qualified people for the job, they experience plenty of obstacles and they attract a lot of enemies.
The series stars Adam Brody as Nick Talman, who offers programmer Izzy Morales (played by Otmara Marrero) the opportunity to test her new idea.
However, the new business venture attracts the wrong crowd, including a crooked FBI agent – Phil Rask (Martin Freeman), who was hot on their tail.
The first 10-episode season aired in 2016, with the second landing on the streaming platform in 2017.
In November 2017, two months after the season two release, the series was renewed for a third season.
Season three aired in 2018 and there has been no sign of more episodes since.
With this in mind, it looks as if the series will remain at three seasons.
Three years have passed since the latest season and there has been no news of a fourth instalment.
In May 2021, all three seasons were made available on Netflix and fans have already binged through the 30 episodes.
Back in 2016, actor Brody spoke to BUILD Series about his new venture, saying: “Even though it’s a very heady concept and you could get into it in a number of ways, it is also a very visceral show.
“It’s energetic and propulsive and it definitely captures a feeling. Cryptocurrency and global economics are heady, intellectual concepts – we dabble in them but maybe even more so we dabble in emotion.”
Fans shared their thoughts on the interview at the time, with one saying: “The show is so good, it’s unbelievable, phenomenal.”
Another added: “We need like four more seasons of this..best of the best..******* dope..hurry up Sony…”
Viewers have been asking when season four will emerge, but there is no sign of it yet.
Fans have also taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the show’s three seasons, and their hopes for a fourth instalment.
One said: “@FriendZonePod & @HeyFranHey got me hooked on @StartUp_Crackle I get all the way to the end of season 3 just to find out season 4 hasn’t even been green lit yet!?! @netflix where’s the petition? I’m ready to sign! I need to know how this ends!!!”
There is a chance Netflix will provide a new platform for a new season, as it has already proven to be popular with viewers.
The show crept its way into the Netflix top 10, which could mean a revival soon.
Another fan said: “Hoping there will be a season 4 made of #StartUp … on/for #Netflix. Love 1-3, straight binged it all!”
Season three ended with Nick killing agent Rebecca Stroud (Mira Sorvino), eliminating her as one of his biggest threats.
But they are not out of the water just yet, and there is plenty of speculation over what could happen beyond the season three finale.
Another viewer said: “Just started watching Startup. Great show so far! I really hope there is a Season 4 at some point.”
StartUp is airing on Netflix now.
