Skarsgård joined the cast of Vikings in 2013 and was last seen as Floki in the show’s fifth season in 2018.
Whether Skarsgård will reprise his role for the show’s final 10 episodes, which will air later this year on Amazon Prime and the History channel, remains unknown for now.
Before landing the role of the eccentric boatbuilder, Floki, in Vikings, Skarsgård had already appeared in several films and television series.
Most memorably, Skarsgård played the role of Otto Silverhielm in the 2003 film Evil.

In Evil, Skarsgård starred alongside Andreas Wilson, Henrik Lundström and Peter Eggers.
He is also well known for playing Voss in the 2010 American survival film The Way Back, appearing opposite Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris and Colin Farrell.
In 2012, Skarsgård portrayed Swedish ethnographer Bengt Danielsson in the Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated film Kon-Tiki, alongside Pål Sverre Hagen, Anders Baasmo Christiansen and Tobias Santelmann.
Most recently, Skarsgård played Martin Schibbye in the Swedish film, 438 Days.
His other film credits include Autumn Blood, Trust Me, Kidz in da Hood and The Color of Milk.
Prior to landing the role of Floki in Vikings, Skarsgård had starred in several Swedish television series.
Skarsgård is well known for his performance as Jonas No.1 in Cleo, King Charles XI of Sweden in Snapphanar and Knut in Arn.
In 2014, he played the role of Karl in Ettor & nollor alongside Jonathan Andersson and Liv Mjönes.
Most recently, Skarsgård appeared in HBO’s Westworld as Karl Strand.
In Westworld, he starred opposite Zahn McClarnon, Fares Fares and Tao Okamoto.

Will Gustaf Skarsgard star in Vikings season 6, part 2?
At the moment, there has been no news of Skarsgård’s return for the final 10 episodes of Vikings.
However, Ubbe (played by Jordan Patrick Smith) is in a desperate search to find his friend and is even travelling to the so-called golden land – thought to be present-day America – in an attempt to find him.
At the end of Vikings season five, Floki was trapped in an Icelandic cave and as far as viewers and his followers are aware, he was unable to escape.
There is some hope for Vikings fans as Gustaf teased to Entertainment Tonight, that Floki may be alive.
He said: “How we pick up with Floki is something that must remain under wraps because it’s so important and so emotional and so fantastic.”
When pushed further on whether Floki is actually alive in the show.
But he wouldn’t give anything away, as he teased: “Well, I can’t say… that would be a spoiler.”
