Gorka Marquez voices concern over Strictly finale routine with Maisie: ‘Forgotten it!’
Strictly: Maisie says she'd 'forgotten week one Samba'
Strictly Come Dancing fans will see one of the four remaining couples crowned the King or Queen of the Strictly ballroom this weekend as the stars will have to take on three routines to try and prove they are worthy of the crown. Maisie Smith comes into the final in the strongest position having been awarded the highest score in last weekend’s semi-final. However, with the BBC contestant having to repeat two dances from early on in the process, Maisie joked she had “forgotten” how to do the Samba which she took on all the way back in week one.
Maisie has consistently impressed both the judging panel and those watching at home with her incredible routines.
The star hasn’t scored lower than 24 points throughout the whole process of the competition and is one of the favourites to win this weekend.
In the final, Maisie will be dancing her previous routines from week one and two – the Samba and the Quickstep – as well as a Showdance.
But on this evening’s episode of It Takes Two, Gorka and Maisie spoke of the difficulty of having to take on a routine from the early stage of the competition.

The Samba was chosen by the panel as the pair’s performance in the Judge’s Choice category.
Zoe said: “The next dance the judges want to see, going all the way back to week one, your Samba.
“Is that a little bit scary, going back to that one?” Zoe asked with Maisie agreeing: “Absolutely, it feels like years ago.
“It feels like pre-Covid, that’s how long ago it feels!”

Maisie indicated how this has given her even more work to do this week due to the routine being originally performed nearly two months ago.
“I literally can’t remember it, he [Gorka] had to basically reteach the whole thing,” Maisie confessed.
“You’ve done so much in between!” Zoe remarked, with Maisie continuing: “Yeah, it’s a distant memory.
“Do you know what? I just never thought I’d have to do it again,” before Gorka blamed himself for the issue.

He said: “I think it’s my fault because in week one I said to her, ‘Don’t worry, I just need your memory for four days. After that, forget about the rest!’
“Now I regret it,” he commented, with Maisie adding: “Now I have to do what he says so…”
Going on to refer to a part of the routine she was picked apart in by Craig Revel Horwood, Zoe questioned if they would be attempting “Batucada” steps.
The host probed: “Did Craig mention the Batucadas? Are you doing the Batucadas? Have you changed it?”
In more hushed tones, Maisie replied: “No, we’re going to try and do them.”
“Go for it girl!” Zoe exclaimed – but viewers could see Gorka with his head in his hands as he looked concerned over having to take on the tricky moves with Maisie.
Maisie remains well in the running to win on Saturday night but it’s Bill Bailey who is the favourite to lift the coveted Glitterball Trophy.
But with it all down to the public to decide who takes the title, it could still be anyone’s game.
Strictly Come Dancing: The Final airs on Saturday at 6pm on BBC One.
