First Look at Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s Oprah Special: “It Was Unbelievably Tough”

With just a week to go until Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s highly anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey airs, the first previews of the prime-time special have just been released.

The two promotional videos, aired tonight by CBS and shared with, give a first look at the depth of the interviews that took place with the Sussexes at their California home last week. In one clip, Winfrey tells viewers, “Just to make it clear to everybody, there is no subject that is off-limits.”

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, can be seen in the promos sitting in front of Winfrey on the lush grounds of her and Harry’s Montecito home. “Were you silent, or were you silenced?” Winfrey is heard asking the duchess. “Sounds like there was a breaking point,” the TV legend reacts in another moment shared in the promo.

The Duke of Sussex, who sat with Meghan for a portion of the interview, is seen admitting that his biggest concern during their time as working members of the royal family “was history repeating itself.”

Making reference to his mother, Princess Diana, the prince says, “You know, for me, I’m just relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side, because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process all those years ago.” Touching images of the late princess and Harry flash on the screen alongside his words.

Harry continues, “It has been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we had each other.” Meghan—who is seen wearing a black embroidered Armani dress and diamond bracelet believed to have once belonged to Diana—can be seen nodding in agreement.
