Emmerdale's Claire King reveals Kim return was meant to be her 'retirement job'

Emmerdale’s Claire King has revealed that Kim Tate’s return was actually meant to be her ‘retirement job’.

Since her return, Kim has been involved in some huge storylines and Claire King recently spoke to The Sun on Sunday about her arrival back in the village.

‘I’ve been fortunate to come back to Emmerdale. My return to the show was meant to be a nice little retirement job for me’ Claire explained.

‘But because Kim is at the centre of everything, it hasn’t really worked out that way!’

Kim’s most recent storyline began with her thinking she was developing signs of dementia. It has now spiralled into Kim trying to work out who’s behind poisoning her.

Claire continued her interview, revealing what it was like to film the part of the storyline where Kim thought she was becoming seriously unwell:

‘The challenge was that Kim wasn’t really losing her marbles, or developing dementia like her dad, but she thought she was. It was a slow process of brain fogginess and confusion, forgetfulness, which is kind of me every day really.

At my age it comes naturally. I was thinking as I read the scripts beforehand, “Well, I’ll just go on set and be me”.’

Most recently, Kim hosted a huge lunch and invited all of the people she thought could be behind the wicked act, including Gabby (Rosie Bentham), Will (Dean Andrews) and her son Jamie (Alexander Lincoln).
