EastEnders' Lorraine Stanley unrecognisable as Big Mo in vintage flashback episode

EASTENDERS star Lorraine Stanley looked completely different as she portrayed Big Mo in a vintage flashback episode.

The TV star, who is best known for playing doting mum Karen Taylor in the BBC One soap, appeared in a special episode looking back on the history of Mo's feud with Pat Butcher.

Actress Lorraine, who arrived in Walford as Karen alongside her brood of kids in 2017, is popular with the soap's fans due to her attitude and series of unlucky romances.

But while she's a regular feature on the show now, in 2004, she took part in a special EastEnders episode dedicated to Mo Harris – aka Big Mo – played by Laila Morse.

The spin-off show explored the iconic character's friendship with Pat Butcher, played by Pam St Clement, and their long-lasting feud.

Looking back at unseen soap history, the story showed Pat visiting the graveside of her brother Jimmy Harris, who was Big Mo's husband.

Reminiscing about the good old days, the episode showed flash backs of the pair in their younger days in what appeared to be Walford in the 1960s.

Seen as inseparable friends at first, things turn sour when Mo marries Pat's brother Jimmy – seeing them have a major fall out in EastEnders fashion.

Their lifelong argument continued when Pat believed Mo had cheated on her late brother, and ran on until Pat's death in 2012.

Lorraine, 44, appeared in the special episode playing the part of young Mo Harris, while Emma Cooke portrayed her former pal Pat.

Looking unrecognisable, Lorraine was seen in a stylish wedding do and with her hair styled into a posh up-do for her wedding day.

Later, she is clad in fashionable sixties clothing – a world apart from her denim-jacket-wearing mum Karen – and looking glamorous.

While Pat waved goodbye almost a decade ago, EastEnders viewers recently saw Big Mo depart to go on a cruise with fat Elvis.

However, there's no need to worry if you're a fan, as an EastEnders spokeswoman told The Sun that actress Laila’s exit will only be temporary.

She revealed: “Just like many occasions before, Big Mo will be departing Walford but as always she’ll no doubt be back in the not too distant future.”

A temporary exit is nothing new for the star, who has had a number of breaks over the years.

EastEnders fans will remember that Big Mo last returned in March 2018 with her granddaughter Kat in tow.
