What illness does Neville Parker have?

DI Neville Parker arrived on the island of Saint Marie as a temporary replacement for Inspector Jack Mooney.

After his time in the position technically ended, he was deemed too ill to fly home.

Neville had developed Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot in the vein.

After a short stint in hospital, Neville decided he wanted to stay on the island of Saint-Marie and signed up to work as Detective Inspector on the island full-time.

Throughout season 10, Neville was inflicted with all sorts of ailments.

He is portrayed as being allergic and sensitive to everything.

Neville is also suspected of having Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) admitting he was ‘out of whack’ when he was unable to follow his routines.

Speaking to WhatsOnTV, Don Warrington, who plays Commissioner Patterson said: “The Commissioner basically wants someone to just come and do their job.

“He knows Neville can’t help his allergies, but at the same time he thinks they can overwhelm him.”

At one point, Neville believed his pet lizard Harry was causing him to flare up and he even planned to get rid of him.

However, in the end, he could not go through with abandoning his beloved pet.

Neville’s illness began to take a toll on Neville, with him exclaiming: “I’ve spent my whole life getting ill at the wrong time, watching others take my place.

“It gets boring, watching life from the touchline.”

Speaking about Neville’s health to HELLO! Magazine, star Ralf Little joked his illness could see the return of former Detective DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall).

He said: “t would be fun if [Kris Marshall’s character] has to get flown out because I’m taken ill.”

Little added: “And we don’t get on too well because he gets annoyed by me and my allergies and I think he’s a bit too slap-dash.

“And then Ardal [O’Hanlon] turns up to kind of make everyone just chill out a little bit and then Sara [Collins] turns up and starts imagining Ben [Miller] talking to her. Now that would be quite an episode wouldn’t it?”

There is good news for fans of Ralf Little as Neville Parker in Death in Paradise.

Little will return as Neville in the upcoming 11th series of Death in Paradise, which is expected to begin filming in late summer 2021.

Just how long Neville will last on the island of Saint Maire remains unknown, with Little revealing in several interviews he only knows he will return for season 11 so far.

However, when Death in Paradise was given the green light for series 11, season 12 was also given the go-ahead.

Will Neville exit as a result of ill health? Fans will have to wait until season 11 arrives in January 2021 to find out.
