Ben emotional at major first milestone for Lexi after Lola's death in EastEnders
Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and daughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) are set to face their first big milestone after Lola’s death in upcoming EastEnders scenes.
Viewers will remember that Ben missed Lola’s final moments after flying to America in search of new treatment options which could prolong her life long enough to allow her to see Lexi’s first day at secondary school.
Lola had been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour, and learnt that the treatment she had been undergoing to prolong her life had stopped working.
However, Ben had heard about a drugs trial in America, which he was desperate for her to try.

Unfortunately, Lola died before he arrived home, leaving him completely devastated.
As Lexi’s first day at secondary school approaches, both her and Ben are emotional as they prepare for the day, knowing how much Lola would have wanted to be there.
Overwhelmed, Ben heads to the Queen Vic to drown his sorrows, but is soon summoned home by husband Callum Highway (Tony Clay), who reveals that he needs to be there to comfort Lexi.
Not wanting his daughter to suffer, Ben encourages her to open up, and she soon begins to get excited about the prospect of starting a new school, despite the recent tragedy she has experienced.
However, it soon becomes clear that Lexi wasn’t the only one that Callum is worried about, as he soon asks Ben if he is okay.
Ben insists he’s fine, but is he telling the truth?
Ben recently opened up to husband Callum about his struggle with bulimia, before seeking help from a counsellor, after Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) warned him that not opening up about his trauma may end up tearing his family apart.
Will he act on her advice, or go back to suffering in silence?
