Power: Tommy Egan star drops surprise bombshell about Ghost character

For six seasons, Power fans had grown to love the brotherly relationship between Ghost (played by Omari Hardwick) and righthand man Tommy (Joseph Sikora). The duo had more than their fair share of ups and downs in the Starz series but by the time the drama came to a close, their bond was clear for all to see as Ghost died in Tommy’s arms. Their popularity was in no small part down to the fantastic performances from both Hardwick and Sikora but the latter has now revealed Ghost was “supposed” to be played by someone else.

Seeing Ghost played by anyone other than Hardwick may be a difficult concept to grasp for Power fans around the world.

The 46-year-old had endeared himself to Starz viewers, portraying Ghost’s brutal and murderous ways while juxtaposing it with his loyal and highly-intelligent attributes.

Hardwick’s time in the role was met with so much praise it earnt the actor a BET Award nod and Image Award wins over the course of six seasons.

However, Sikora has revealed it was actually co-star 50 Cent who was initially penned in for the role.

  • Power: Courtney Kemp reveals original idea for Tommy Egan

Power fans will know 50 Cent took on the role of the murderous drug dealer Kanan instead.

But speaking to The Hot Zone, Sikora opened up on how he almost took on the lead role.

Sikora revealed: “It was originally gonna be 50 Cent who was going to be Ghost.

“Originally it was going to be 50 and then because of how intense the, not only rehearsals, but filming schedule would be,

“He didn’t want to put in all of that time. (To) executive produce, and star, and write the music and score.”

Sikora then recalled how Hardwick was next in line for the part.

He continued: “They reached out to Omari and offered him the role of Ghost.

“Then after they offered him the role, they needed to build the cast around him.”

The Tommy Egan star then detailed how he and his co-star developed their chemistry off-screen as well as in front of the camera.

He said: “That’s when we started doing chemistry reads with Omari,

“And Omari and I, we just kinda had a great chemistry.

“We put in the time together, we drove around southside and Jamaica Queens before we started and the streets where our characters were supoosed to be from.”

Outlander: Who is dating who? The real-life relationships

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

The central romance between Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) is a big part of Starz series Outlander. Outlander is adapted from the novels of Diana Gabaldon and follows the couple’s love through time and space. However, many viewers have been wondering about the real-life romance of the stars.

Caitriona Balfe

Caitriona Balfe is married to music producer Tony McGill with the pair tying the knot back in 2019.

They reportedly got married in August last year at St. Mary’s Church in Bruton, Somerset.

Balfe and McGill got engaged in 2018 with the actress telling People at the time: “It happened over the break. I’m very happy.”

She also told The Independent about her romance: “He’s a very shy person and he doesn’t like much talking about him.”

The star added: “I met him through one of my best friends, which I think is the best kind of introduction you can get.”

The couple has been very private about their relationship but are thought to have been together for a number of years before tying the knot.

  • Outlander plot hole: Brianna Fraser blunder in found in stones journey

Sam Heughan

Sam Heughan is reportedly dating up-and-coming actress Twin Peaks and The Detour actress Amy Shiels.

According to social media, the pair have known each other for an estimated 10 years.

He was previously linked to actress MacKenzie Mauzy and had roles in Law & Order: SVU and CSI.

Many fans have hoped Heughan and Balfe’s onscreen romance will become a case of life imitating art but the two are just good friends.

Balfe previously told E! in 2016: “We’ve always said from the get-go that we’re incredibly great friends.

“We’re not together, sorry to break people’s hearts! But they like to try and, I don’t know, maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story.

“I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together.”

Richard Rankin

There’s not much information about who Richard Rankin – better known as Roger MacKenzie – is dating.

However, he did share some titbits about filming kissing scenes with his co-star Sophie Skelton – who plays Brianna Fraser.

Rankin told Vanity Fair in 2017: “I find that endlessly hilarious. The best thing to do before a kissing scene is to eat lobster or as much fish as you can cram in your face.

“That’s more interesting than a straight down the line kiss. Everyone’s doing normal kisses.

“The normal kiss is done, it’s so uninspiring. But if you’ve got a lobster tail hanging out the side of your mouth it’s much better.”

The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik drop Amy and Sheldon romance bombshell

Fans were ecstatic when Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons) and Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) finally married in season 11 of The Big Bang Theory. Comedy superstar Mayim recently opened up about her experience working with the cast for nine seasons of the CBS sitcom.

Season three of the wildly successful comedy series explored a surprising side of complicated physicist Sheldon Cooper when he matched with his love interest Amy on a dating website.

Although their romance took several seasons to flourish, Amy and Sheldon eventually grew into one of the most heartwarming television couples.

The pair finally tied the knot in the anticipated finale of season 11 after one of the longest and slowest relationships in sitcom history.

Luckily, the show ended last year before production could run into the same trouble for other series caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, meaning fans finally saw Sheldon and Amy awarded the coveted Nobel Prize.

  • Big Bang Theory plot hole: Young Sheldon exposes germaphobia error

As the lockdown continues, comedy star Mayim Bialik sat down for a Zoom chat about her on-set experience with

In addition to divulging everything there is to know about her emotional bond with her co-star Jim Parsons, she first revealed a surprising secret about her time on the show.

Mayim confirmed: “I’ve never seen most of the episodes. I don’t watch myself on television. I’ve never sat and watched an episode of our show, ever.”

With 12 seasons and almost 300 episodes, catching up with the long-running sitcom is certainly a daunting task, though the series has remained an enduring sitcom staple as viewers turn to the show on Netflix during the lockdown.

Amy and Sheldon’s complex relationship was just one of the many aspects of the show bringing millions of fans back each week.

Largely based on Sheldon’s reluctance for physical contact and difficult demands, Amy was praised as one of the most patient girlfriends on TV.

The pair eventually made things official, albeit with an extensive Relationship Agreement, and finally made their wedding vows in season 11.

As Mayim touched on the characters’ growth throughout the series, she revealed Amy “felt she understood Sheldon in ways that he hadn’t been understood before.”

She continued: “I think it’s a really beautiful example of what unconditional love really looks like.‘There was a lot of give and take, it wasn’t just her tolerating him, he also had to make a lot of adjustments and changes.”

Mayim was introduced alongside new recurring character Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) as a love interest for Howard (Simon Helberg).

Bernadette and Howard took their relationship to the next level far quicker than Amy and Sheldon, and many fans were pleased his newfound romance could reign in his sleazier tendencies.

However, other fans were confused why the infamously introverted Sheldon would agree to a romantic relationship in the first place.

  • Did you spot Elon Musk in funny Big Bang Theory & Young Sheldon cameo?

Mayim explained: “There was a lot of give and take, it wasn’t just her tolerating him, he also had to make a lot of adjustments and changes.

“I think the fans also had some confusion about that – why does Sheldon want a girlfriend in the first place? It took us nine years to figure that out and I think our writers did a beautiful job with finding that balance.”

With an extensive back catalogue available on Netflix and the world of the Big Bang Theory continuing with Young Sheldon on CBS, there’s plenty of geeky comedy content to enjoy during the ongoing lockdown.

Good Morning Britain’s Andi Peters bewildered by epic technical blunder: ‘I’m drenched’

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Andi, 49, is best known for presenting the competition segments on Good Morning Britain and has managed to keep the nation entertained during the lockdown period. As routine, today he crossed over with hosts Piers Morgan, 55, and Susanna Reid, 49, on several occasion to inform ITV viewers of the prizes they could get their hands on. For most of the programme, his stints had gone to plan, with no technical blunders whatsoever. However, he was caught completely unawares moments before one of his last appearances as he suffered a rather “wet” incident.

For the past few months, Andi has been presenting the competition segments from his garage at home, which has left both viewers and his co-stars rather amused.

With the weather still holding out, for now, the presenter decided to venture outside to speak with viewers.

Today, he as in his garden, surrounded all a whole array of flowers and bushes, but he didn’t know about one particular feature lurking in the grass.

This led him to be blasted with a water sprinkler just moments before speaking with Piers and Susanna, leaving his soaking wet.

  • Piers Morgan shuts down Tory mayoral candidate in heated Cummings row

Introducing the competition, Susanna handed the reins over to her colleague who looked rather bewildered.

“Good morning,” he replied, before adding: “We’ve just had a rather unfortunate incident with the automatic sprinklers.

“I am literally drenched,” he remarked, with his coat sagging from his arms and his co-stars in hysterics in the studio.

Putting his hands to his head, the presenter chimed: “This is unreal,” before going on to give the details of the prizes on offer.

I’m just drying myself off

Andi Peters

Following the prerecorded video of the competition details, the shot returned to Andi pressing his face with a towel.

“That’s right, I’m just drying myself off,” he told the hosts in the studio, adding: “It was literally like a Carry On sketch.

“There was water everywhere,” he said, before composing himself and wrapping up his stint on the show today.

During his time away from the studios, the presenter has suffered all manner of technical blunders and difficulties.

Last month, he was caught unaware when RadioX star Chris Moyles, 46, decided he’d made an impromptu call to his colleague.

What the latter didn’t realise was Andi was just about to speak on Good Morning Britain and on answering the FaceTime, the presenter said he would keep the call going during his appearance on live television.

The radio personality said he wouldn’t shout or disrupt him, but he still managed to cause some mischief.

Although viewers of the ITV show couldn’t hear what was going on, the presenter was well aware of what the caller was doing.

  • Piers Morgan and Tory MP clash in furious GMB row over appearance

Messing around with technology, Chris blasted out several inappropriate sounds bites to try and throw the presenter off.

Andi remained professional, however, and seemed resilient to all the humorous noises going off in the background.

With the competition segment just one of the reasons viewers tune in, Piers and Susanna explained earlier on in the show they had their best viewing figures ever for Tuesday’s instalment.

The former thanked those watching at home for tuning in, stating he and his colleagues would keep informing them on the latest developments from across the globe.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.

Vikings: Kwenthrith star hits out at cast members following exit ‘I get really upset’

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Also available internationally on Amazon Prime Video, the sixth season of Vikings is one of the most anticipated television releases still eying a 2020 release date. Ten episodes of the History Channel’s first dramatised series are left to air, and a key cast member has revealed some surprising behind-the-scenes insight while fans wait for the midseason premiere.

Never miss a royal update again by signing up to the Daily Express Royal Family newsletter

The History Channel has confirmed production on Vikings has been put on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Most television projects across the States have been put on hold as the cast and crew exercise lockdown procedures, meaning Vikings fans could have a much longer wait than usual to see the conclusion of the sixth season.

Previously speculated to return in November 2020, the final ten episodes of the popular historical saga may not become available until some time in 2021.

When fans last left the series, new series lead Bjorn Ironside (played by Alexander Ludwig) had been struck down in the heat of battle by his rival Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen).

  • Vikings: Why did Aethelwulf die? Was Aethelwulf’s death accurate?

During the wait for the second half of season six, fans have been treated to some backstage secrets courtesy of Vikings’ cast and crew.

Most recently, recurring star of the second, third and fourth seasons of Vikings, Amy Bailey, has spoken out against some of the more difficult members of the cast.

Amy was known as Kwenthrith, the Queen of Mercia, during her tenure on the series, a seductive ruler who was later revealed to have a traumatic past.

The Vikings actress, also known for her lead role in popular PlayStation VR game Blood & Truth, spoke on her experience with YouTube channel Beauty Is Eternal.

Without naming any names, Amy revealed: “It’s hard to work with actors who are method actors. I find it very hard.”

“It’s good when you’re doing the scene with them because it’s very intense and very real, but then when they’re not able to drop it when they yell cut and they still have to be this a**hole or whoever they’re playing? I find that really boring.”

Set within the violent Age of Vikings between the 8th and 11th centuries, History Channel’s epic blend of legend and history certainly features some of the most larger-than-life characters on television.

Screenwriter Michael Hirst has been praised for mixing mythology with historical accounts, and the series has become infamous for its ambitious and brutal battle scenes.

Lucifer season 5 release ‘soon’ after Maze star’s prediction [INSIGHT]

However, according to Amy, the show’s impressive production values could also lead to considerable stress behind-the-scenes on the set of Vikings.

She continued: “You have to take care of the people who are taking care of you. Every project I’ve worked on, especially Vikings, has had such hardworking crew who get there hours before the actors do and stay hours after we leave.

“They get us our food and they get us our drinks and they do our make-up and they give us our clothes and they put us in warm tents when everybody else is outside freezing doing cameras.”

Each season of Vikings has a reported budget of approximately $40 million, so the show definitely boasts one of the biggest crews in the business.

  • Vikings season 6 part B: Will Ragnar see his family in Valhalla?

Unfortunately, Amy claims not everyone she’s worked with during her career treats the crew with the respect they deserve.

Finally, she added: “So, for me, you have to treat those people like gold so I get really upset when I see actors not treating crew well because they have to stay in character. Like, give me a break and get over yourself!”

Hopefully the on-set tension will all be worthwhile when Vikings’ remaining ten episodes eventually returns to deliver fans the thrilling conclusion they’ve been promised.

Mary Fitzgerald ring: What is moissanite? The ring sparking a FEUD with Davina and Romain

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Selling Sunset returned last month to Netflix for its second season which saw the wedding of agent Mary Fitzgerald and French model Romain Bonnet. He proposed to Mary in the first season and fans of the show loved seeing them tie the knot in the last episode of the show’s second season. But the ring he initially gave Mary wasn’t the one she was wearing on their wedding day.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Selling Sunset.

Romain was first introduced on Selling Sunset as Mary’s young boyfriend at just 26-years-old, 13 years she junior.

Their relationship sparked gossip across The Oppenheim Group but the couple remained strong despite the scepticism.

They proved everyone wrong when Romain got down on one knee and popped the question.

The ring he used to propose to Mary also got some attention.

  • Jason and Brett Oppenheim height: How tall are the Oppenheim brothers?

What is a moissanite ring?

Rather than a traditional diamond ring, Romain proposed with a moissanite ring.

Moissanite is a rare mineral and a less expensive diamond alternative.

So while they look very similar to a diamond ring, moissanite is very different.

The fact that the ring wasn’t a diamond also started off a long feud between Davina Portraz and Romain.

Following the proposal, Mary was eager to show off her new engagement ring to her colleagues.

However, Davina was quick to point out that the ring wasn’t an actual diamond but the less expensive moissanite.

For over a year, Romain held a grudge against Davina for making these comments about the ring.

He insisted that Davina wouldn’t be invited to the wedding because of this.

Feeling left out, Davina went to speak to Romain which only ended in a fiery row and nothing being resolved.

Gray Atkins (played by Toby-Alexander Smith) has abused his wife Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) throughout their marriage but is perceived by EastEnders residents to be the perfect husband as he fights Whitney Dean’s (Shona McGarty) case. However, will the lawyer be forced to abandon Whitney after realising her friendship with his wife could put his perfect image in jeopardy?

Ever since Gray lost his position at the law firm, he’s been determined to secure Whitney’s freedom in the eyes of the law.

Despite abusing Chantelle in horrific scenes, Whitney has grown to emotionally depend on Gray and sees him as the ideal partner.

Whitney and Chantelle are friends but Gray has always remained confident in his wife keeping his sinister secret.

However, the lawyer will begin to realise they pair could open up to each other over their experiences with abusive partners.

In upcoming scenes, Whitney is haunted by the memory of the night Leo was killed and is found disoriented in the Square.

He takes her back to his home and quizzes her on her past relationships warning the market trader that they could be used against her.

Whitney clams up so Gray heads over to Mick (Danny Dyer) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) to find out about her marriage to Lee Carter (Danny Hatchard).

Linda reveals her son hit Whitney and EastEnders star Toby revealed Gray will fear this revelation could lead to trouble.

He said: “His profession requires him to detach emotionally when he gets information, that’s part of his job even if what’s being said does resonate with him.

“But I do think when Linda tells him it does make him feel uncomfortable.”

“While this is news that could help Whitney in this case, Gray’s initial concern would be that Whitney’s friendship with Chantelle means it’s something that might come out if they open up to each other, so from a more selfish point of view I think that’s more what Gray is thinking.”

The disgraced lawyer’s motive behind fighting Whitney’s case has been to restore his professional reputation.
