All the signs Sister Wives star Meri Brown and husband Kody have split after 30-year marriage – The Sun

SISTER Wives' Meri Brown and Kody Brown have potentially split after almost 30 years of marriage.

The first hints were broadcast during the TLC show when the couple admitted that their relationship was over, as the Brown patriarch claimed he regretted their relationship.

Here are all the signs that Kody and Meri are no longer an item.

Meri said their relationship is 'over'

In the show, Meri and Kody went to couple's counseling to try and mend their relationship.

That's when Meri, 49, admitted their relationship has been “pretty rocky.”

She continued: “People ask me all the time why I don’t leave.

“The relationship between he and I is gone, it’s dead, it’s over.”

Kody, 51, then explained how they had a “very fast courtship.”

He added: “I didn’t know who I was marrying. I am just done with hearing how I am wrong.”

In another preview for the episode, he said: “We’re family, but we’re not acting married.”

Meri responded: “He doesn’t want to move forward with trying to work things out with me.”

He fired back: “I can never be honest because she’s unable to move away from being the victim.”

Kody claimed he regrets their relationship and she deceived him into marrying her

During the same therapy session, Kody revealed: “Meri mourns the loss of what we had… I regret what we had.”

Meri said: “The relationship he and I had, it’s dead, it’s gone, it’s over. I want a relationship with him.”

He then slammed Meri for “going to victim mode” when he tried to have honest conversations.

He continued to fire: “I feel like I was deceived into a relationship that was very different than what I expected. Meri and I had a fast courtship with a lot of expectations and a lot of not communicating.

"I didn’t know who I was marrying. As things unfolded, I started to become troubled and bitter by the situation I was in.”

Kody and Meri snubbed each other on their 30th anniversary

Instead of posting a photo with Kody for their anniversary, Meri captioned a selfie with her dog: “Puppy life… Can it get any better??”

Meri then posted a series of cryptic quotes on Instagram.

She shared on Instagram Story: “You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go, and see what happens.”

She then posted: “Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”

But Meri didn’t stop there, as she posted a quote that read: “Remember to take care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup.”

She added to the post: “Self care. I’m feeling in need of this today.”

Kody also failed to reach out to Meri via social media.

Meri pauses Facebook Live to sign legal papers

Kody came by Meri's house during the quarantine to deliver her some legal papers.

Meri paused a live sale and could be heard telling her husband that he looked “tired.”

Kody could then be heard in the background: “I don’t know what it is… stress. I am meditating. I am exercising. I am working.”

Meri then encouraged her husband to “take CBD” and admitted she took some the other day and it tasted “nasty.”

Kody then apologized for interrupting her sale and left.

When fans asked what legal paperwork she signed, Meri joked: “Divorce papers!”

The video is the first time in months Meri and Kody have been spotted on social media together, as fans have suspected he has been in coronavirus quarantine with “favorite” and fourth wife Robyn, 41.

Meri 'looks at fear in the face' after she saw Kody

The reality star captioned a photo of her smiling: “You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. Do the thing you think you cannot do."

Instagram followers suspect Meri posted the empowering quote because she has left her husband.

One fan said: “Girl you should’ve left years ago that whole relationship is just an emotional mind warp. You deserve to be happy.”

A second commented: “I hope you find your soulmate and stop waiting for a man who doesn’t love, you deserve to be happy, so go find you a real good man.”

Her post came just days after she had seen Kody to sign some legal documents. She also wasn't wearing a wedding ring.

Meri says she 'can't force' anyone to 'feel how they don't feel'

The mother of one posted a rather lengthy post and wrote: “Whether with my business associates or in my personal life, I can't force anyone to be who they're not, feel how they don't feel, or meet me anywhere they're not willing or able to meet me. And that's ok. I'll be here for them when they are.”

“I can only control me and how I respond or react to any given situation. I make my own choices and I'm responsible for them. They say life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. My reactions aren't always the best, and that doesn't define me. But I'm still in the game. I haven't quit.

She ended the caption: “Living life on a daily basis, working hard, dreaming big. Because that's what I do. That's what I'll always do. That's who I am.”

Meri and Kody haven't started to build their dream home after two years of purchasing the land

Meri posted a photo of the family’s Coyote Pass property, which was purchased in June 2018 for $820,000, in Flagstaff, Arizona.

But all that could be seen in the photo was vacant land, as Kody and his four wives Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn have yet to build their four homes on the property.

Meri got a new look as she recently changed her hair and lost weight

Kody's first wife posted a selfie of her haircut and weight loss after she revealed she has been working with a personal trainer.

Meri continued to spark split rumors with the post, as she insisted she doesn’t “need anyone” in the caption of the photo.

The lengthy caption began: “For as long as I can remember, I've been a t-shirt and jeans kinda gal. I feel my most comfortable in them, not too showy or flashy, can dress it up a little with heels and a fancy necklace, or work out in the yard with sneakers and cut offs. It's been my thing. But the world says I should improve my style.

“The world says I should wear a dress. The world says I should wear lipstick. But I say, I'll do what 'I' want. If I want to wear jeans and a t-shirt all day every day, I will. If I want to wear a skirt and t-shirt with sneakers, I will. If I want to dress up for a night out, I will. If I want to wear lipstick, well, that will just never happen, be assured!”

Meri continued: “I don't need anyone but ME to tell me how to dress in the morning, or how do do my hair, or heaven help me, how to do my eyebrows! I'm a woman who has lived on this earth for nearly 50 years, and I'm not afraid to say it. I've raised a daughter. I've had ups and downs. I've had crazy and amazing life experiences.

“I've loved and been loved. I've felt pain and caused others pain. I've felt comforted and hopefully have been a comforter. Point is, I've LIVED. These experiences have shaped and formed me. And I'm not finished yet!”

She ended the caption with: “Find your style and be confident in it! Find your cause and fight for it! Find your passion and create it! YOU matter. YOU are amazing. YOU can conquer that goal. YOU can feel confident in your own skin. YOU can do hard things. YOU can do ALL the things! You got this!!"

The most expensive divorces in sport, including pay offs for the ex-wives of Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and Mike Tyson – The Sun

IF you're a mega-rich and successful sports star divorce can sting.

Through the years we've seen the likes of Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Mike Tyson all forced to pay off ex-wives when their relationships came to an end.

But which person in the world of sport has paid the most to his former spouse?

Let SunSport tell you who in our definitive countdown – beginning with an NBA legend.

10. SHAQ AND SHAUNIE O'NEAL, £16k-per-month

The larger-than-life basketball star reportedly protected his assets by asking wife of nine years Shaunie to sign a prenuptial agreement.

So, when she filed court papers claiming infidelity it didn't leave a massive dent in his reported net worth of £250million.

Even so, in his biography 'Shaq Uncut: My Story' he revealed that he and his ex agreed a costly private settlement.

Shaq wrote he continues to pay Shaunie £8,000-per month in spousal maintenance, and an additional £8,000 for their four children.

9. NICK AND VALERIE FALDO, £7.5M

They say the third time's a charm, but that wasn't the case for British golf legend Nick when it came to marriage.

In 2006, he divorced wife of five years Valerie, which is believed to have cost the three-time Masters champion around £7.5million.

This is after calling her "The One."

Still, today Faldo is believed to be worth £35million.

8. MIKE TYSON AND ROBIN GIVENS, £8M

It was a whirlwind romance that was doomed from the start.

Only eight months after Givens took her mum along to a first date with 'Iron Mike', she was walking down the aisle with the heavyweight champ.

However, the pair were divorced after a year with Givens alleging that Tyson had threatened to kill her and was prone to violent rampages, according to the LA Times.

She was handed a £8million payout for their year of marriage.

7. HULK AND LINDA HOGAN, WORTH £11M

WWE legend Hulk Hogan, real-name Terry Bollea, married Linda Claridge in 1983.

However, after she claimed he cheated on her with their daughter's friend Christiane Plante they divorced in 2009, and a lengthy court battle ensued.

In the settlement, she won 70 per cent of the couple's liquid assets valued at around £7million.

She also received 40 per cent ownership in his companies, as well as a £2million property settlement.

6. ALEX RODRIGUEZ AND CYNTHIA SCURTIS, £14M

Now romancing J-Lo, baseball legend Alex Rodriguez has always had a reputation as a ladies' man.

He married Cynthia Scurtis in 2002, after the pair met in a Miami gym, and they had two children.

But in 2008, she filed for divorce citing "emotional abandonment" of her and their kids, as well as "extra marital affairs and other marital misconduct".

Details of the cost of the settlement were kept out of the public domain, but Cynthia did walk away from the divorce with a £10million mansion in Coral Gables and an equitable split of assets acquired over their five-year marriage.

5. LANCE AND KRISTIN ARMSTRONG, £15M

The disgraced cyclist was once worth around £105million, before legal battles defending accusations of doping, as well as this divorce diminished his wealth.

He met journalist Kristin at a press conference in 1997, they were married a year later and then had three children.

But in 2003, the same year Armstrong began dating singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow, they announced their divorce.

According to an Armstrong biographer, it cost him somewhere in the region of £15million.

4. TIGER WOODS AND ELIN NORDEGREN, £80M

It was one of the most famous divorces and biggest scandals in sport.

Once squeaky-clean, golf legend Tiger Woods had his reputation tarnished by a series of allegations of infidelity.

And it all started when Tiger crashed his Cadillac Escalade into a fire hydrant when pulling out of his driveway.

Ex-wife Elin had reportedly chased the Masters champion out of the house, wielding one of his golf clubs, after catching him texting one of his mistresses.

The high-profile divorce cost him £80m, and he also lost a fortune in endorsements.

3. GREG NORMAN AND LAURA ANDRASSY, £83M

Legendary golfer Greg Norman isn't just remembered for his epic 1996 Masters meltdown, where he had a six-stroke lead and ended up losing by five.

He also endured a costly divorce to wife of 22-years, former flight attendant Laura Andrassy.

The Shark was forced to pay out an astonishing £83million settlement in 2007.

But it didn't stop him believing in marriage, walking down the aisle with tennis legend Chris Evert in 2008.

However, they split a year later.

2 MICHAEL AND JUANITA JORDAN, £134M

The Chicago Bulls legend met Juanita in a restaurant in Chicago, and they married in Las Vegas in 1989.

But, after 17 years together they divorced in 2006 citing 'irreconcilable differences'.

Juanita had previously filed for divorce in 2002, but a month later the couple revealed they were attempting to repair their marriage and she withdrew the petition.

She received £134million, the most an American athlete has had to pay his ex-wife.

1. ROMAN AND IRINA ABRAMOVICH, £1bn+

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly holds the record for the world's costliest divorce.

The Russian oligarch was granted a "quickie" divorce from first wife Irina, who he had five children with in 2007.

In the settlement, Roman, worth around £11billion, is said to have transferred at least four homes to his ex, including an £18million estate in West Sussex, as well as two London homes in Eaton Square and Chester Square, plus a large cash sum.

It was estimated that it cost somewhere between £1billion to £2billion to pay off Irina.

Britons across the country kneel on their doorsteps

Britons across the country kneel on their doorsteps in support of George Floyd after tens of thousands took to the streets in growing racism protests

  •  Britons across the country stepped outside their home to ‘take the knee’ and demand justice for George Floyd
  •  Campaign, which was created by Stand up to Racism, inspired by the American football star Colin Kaepernick
  •  Comes weeks after George Floyd, 46, died after police officer Derek Chauvin put knee on neck in Minneapolis

Thousands of Britons stepped outside their doorsteps last night to ‘take the knee’ and demand justice for the police killing of George Floyd.

Fire brigades, police officers and emergency services across the country showed their support for the Black Lives Matter movement by standing outside their homes and places of work at 6pm yesterday in solidarity with  protesters in the U.S.

The campaign, which was created by Stand up to Racism, was inspired by the American football star Colin Kaepernick who took to his knee during the National Anthem in 2016 in an effort to draw attention to racial injustice and police brutality in the country.

As the clock struck 6 last night, families across the nation emerged from their homes to kneel on the ground and show their support for the campaign sweeping across the world.

At Finchley Fire Station the fire brigade service took the knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and to demand justice for George Floyd

Families in Oxford stepped outside their homes yesterday evening to ‘take the knee’ and show their support of the campaign created by Stand Up To Racism

Broadcaster and former Fame Academy vocal coach Carrie Grant shared a picture of her family kneeling on the ground outside their home

Meanwhile in London, a group of people were seen kneeling on the ground with a Black Lives Matter poster in support of the movement

The scenes come as demonstrations continue to build around the world after George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American man, died after police officer Derek Chauvin put his knee on his neck in Minneapolis on May 25 for nine minutes.

The three other officers who were also present at the scene, Thomas Lane, J Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao – were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

A message on Stand Up to Racism’s Facebook page read earlier this week read: ‘On Wednesday 3 June at 6pm Stand Up To Racism calls on people to ‘take the knee’ on their doorsteps or wherever they are. This is part of a day of action in solidarity with the movement and to highlight the disproportionate BAME deaths in the Covid-19 crisis in the UK.’

In 2016, American football player Colin Kaepernick began making the gesture at the beginning of every game in an effort to cast a light on discrimination towards African Americans in the nation.

He told NFL Media at the time: ‘I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of colour. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.’

Prior to the event, singer Paloma Faith took to social media to share her support of the gesture and urge others to ‘take the knee’ in a tweet which read: ‘Hi everyone, I’ve been quiet on here the last week or so. I’ve been focussing on Instagram but want to share to this community as well. Enough is enough. Black Lives Matter. #TakeTheKnee for George tonight at 6pm.’

In Hackney, London, Marisol Grandon, 41, and her son Oran Keith (pictured together left), 12, knelt outside their home in support of the movement and in Leicester Shea Pember (right) also showed her support of the campaign

The London Fire Brigade also tweeted a picture of themselves taking the knee and showing their support during last night’s campaign

A group of firefighters in London take the knee during a Black Lives Matter protest in Brixton, south London, yesterday

Weyman Bennett, co convenor Stand Up To Racism said: ‘Power concedes nothing without a struggle, we must overcome those refuse to challenge racism.

‘The 60,000 dead and disproportionate deaths of Black and BAME communities demand answers we want public inquiry. We can do this together and break a racist system so no one loses their life and everybody gets justice and peace.’

Meanwhile Sabby Dhalu, Stand up to Racism Co-Convenor, added: ‘We’re delighted tens of thousands of people joined today’s #TakeTheKnee initiative. But we cannot stop here.

‘Across the globe the anti-racist majority is making its voice heard in solidarity with George Floyd and protestors in the U.S. Many are also outraged at the disproportionate Covid-19 deaths suffered by BAME communities.

‘It’s a scandal that the government removed from the Public Health England (PHE) Covid-19 report the section on institutional racism.

‘We’re building a movement that demands justice and demands change, from the police to the NHS. We’re calling for a root and branch public inquiry that examines all factors, including institutional racism, that led to BAME communities dying disproportionately.’

The truth about Duck Dynasty Phil Robertson’s daughter Phyllis

Only a week after Duck Dynasty “Duck Commander” Phil Robertson and sons Al, Jase, Jep, and Willie dropped a bombshell revelation on listeners of their Unashamed podcast — namely, that the family had recently connected with a long-lost adult daughter Phil had fathered in the 1970s during an extra-marital affair — the woman at the center of it all appeared as a guest on the show to tell her side of the story.

Phyllis made her Unashamed debut on May 31, 2020, joining regular host Phil, fellow half-siblings Jase and Al, and Phil’s wife, “Miss” Kay Robertson.

Though Unashamed followers were given a general summary of how Phyllis first made contact with her famous father and were reassured that the family has since welcomed her with open arms, Phyllis spent the episode filling in the details — and making the story her own.

A DNA test turned Phil Robertson's daughter into an internet sleuth

According to Phyllis’ interview on the Unashamed podcast, her journey to uncovering her biological father’s identity began when her son took a DNA test and found some strange discrepancies. After alerting his mother that his DNA results didn’t seem compatible with the information they’d previously been given about their family’s ethnic history, Phyllis and her siblings decided to take their own DNA tests. The results revealed that Phyllis had a different biological father than her siblings. What happened next was the stuff made of internet-era mystery novels.

After “a little digging, internet searches” and more, Phyllis said she “put together a family tree, so to speak.” After narrowing down the possibilities, she realized: “I think I know who this might be.” In fact, her very name may have been a clue connecting Phyllis to Phil Robertson.

Phyllis said she hand-delivered a letter to the church the Duck Dynasty stars attend — on a Sunday that patriarch Phil was at the fore, preaching. “I thought, how cool is it that the first time I’m seeing my dad, he’s preaching the gospel?” she said. “That to me was like, that’s a cool dad.”

Phil Roberston embraced his daughter Phyllis

Phil Robertson said the discovery of a long-lost daughter became the best thing to come out of his wilder days. “Until she showed up, I had nothing good to say about what happened before,” the Duck Dynasty star said on the Unashamed podcast. “I had nothing good. I just walled it off.”

Phyllis said everyone gelled instantly like “puzzle pieces clicking into place.” Even more fascinating about their reunion is that Phyllis has, up until recently, never really watched the A&E show that made the Robertsons famous. Relaying that she “had no preconceived ideas” about the Duck Dynasty clan before meeting them, she admitted that she did indeed “[try] to watch a couple episodes,” but in the end, “that’s not what I want[ed] my first impression to be.”

While her choice is certainly understandable, it remains unclear as to whether Phyllis is also unaware of the number of controversies the Robertsons have been embroiled in over the years — namely Phil’s now-infamous 2013 GQ profile, in which he expressed anti-LGBTQ attitudes and railed against adultery. (Awkward.)

The untold truth of Kehlani

As protests and unrest spread across the nation following the killing of George Floyd during an encounter with Minneapolis police, some celebrities are also facing scrutiny for their responses to the volatile situation. Among those famous faces is singer Lana Del Rey, who shared a series of controversial posts on social media and tangled directly and indirectly with fellow artist Kehlani.

In one Instagram post, Del Rey discussed a perceived double-standard in the music industry, making her argument by essentially name-checking other artists, specifically women of color. “Question for the culture,” Del Rey wrote (per the Los Angeles Times). “Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f***ing, cheating, etc — can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money — or whatever i want — without being crucified or saying that I’m glamorizing abuse???????”

Del Rey said she was not trying to detract from the success of the women she’d named. In fact, she said they were her “favorite f***ing people,” but that sentiment certainly isn’t mutual for Kehlani, who directly called out Del Rey for subsequently posting what Kehlani called a “dangerous” video of looting in Los Angeles.

But Kehlani is much more than her headline-making exchange with Del Rey. She is a successful artist in her own right. Let’s dig into that, shall we?

Kehlani took her album release into her own hands

Kehlani rose to prominence in 2014 with a free mixtape titled Cloud 19. She has since become a Grammy and BET-nominated superstar who’s kept busy while laying low during the coronavirus pandemic. She even executed a DIY new music release from her home.

Kehlani was disappointed when her label postponed the release of her album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, right before social-distancing and self-quarantine got underway. “I was pretty bummed, but they’re the label, I can’t fight that,” she told The GuardianIn response, she used her own skills to produce a video and drop her “TOXIC” single in March 2020. The sensual video features Kehlani in different outfits swaying to the music and feeling herself. I put it out, just wine drunk, in the middle of the night and things went crazy,” she said. Her label reportedly phoned the next day. “They were like: ‘If you’ve decided you want to take everything into your own hands you’re welcome to drop [the album].'”

She’s continued her grassroots promotions and DIY videography. “I’ve learned a lot of new things off YouTube,” she told The Guardian. “I’m actually really busy.”

Kehlani dishes on her big breakup with YG

Kehlani came clean in 2020 about what exactly went down between her and her ex, YG. The rapper was reportedly one of the first artists in the industry to express interest in her work, but YG was also allegedly caught with another woman outside a club in Los Angeles shortly after their relationship went public in 2019.

In May 2020, Kehlani talked to The Breakfast Club about being in an open relationship and facing betrayal. “I think you get to a certain point where if you set certain boundaries for your relationship, then that’s the boundaries that you guys should hold yourselves to…” she told the radio show, noting that infidelity can feel like a part of the music biz. “…at some point I have to hold that standard to myself and honor myself and dip out.”

According to Kehlani, YG was cheating on her, and the details are in her track, “Valentine’s Day.” She said the “outside the club thing” [YG kissing another woman] wasn’t the reason for their split. To her, the communication breakdown was key. “It was a lot of lies and a lot of covering up,” she said. “It was deep, and it was intricate.” She said they’re both on good terms now, but she’s moved on.

Kehlani had a difficult childhood

Kehlani overcame a difficult start in life. She was reportedly born prematurely to a mother who was on the run. Her father, who died when she was 1, talked her mom through labor on the phone from prison. Shortly after Kehlani was born, her mother returned to prison. “…I was hella premature because she was on drugs,” Kehlani told The Guardian. Baby Kehlani was placed in foster care. Her aunt eventually adopted her, but Kehlani said she became homeless as a teenager, reportedly drifting from couch to couch and stealing food to stay alive until around 2012.

Kehlani endured another horrible circumstance in 2016 when she was mercilessly criticized over a single social media post. Rapper PartyNextDoor shared a photo with Kehlani in bed. At the time, most folks believed she was dating NBA player Kyrie Irving, so that snap triggered an onslaught of infidelity chatter. Though both Kehlani and Irving said they were not together at the time of the post, the hate directed at Kehlani got so bad that she may have attempted suicide.

“I wanted to leave this earth,” she said in an Instagram post, per MTV News. “Never thought I’d get to such a low point. But…Don’t believe the blogs you read. No one was cheated on and I’m not a bad person.” She added, “God saved me for a reason, and for that…I must be grateful.. Cuz I’m not in heaven right now for a reason.”

Kehlani believes looks can be deceiving

Kehlani described herself as a mixed-race person, saying she has black, white, Native American, Mexican, Spanish, and Filipino roots in her family. Her love interests also don’t discriminate. “I’m queer. Not bi, not straight. I’m attracted to women, men, REALLY attracted to queer men, non binary people, intersex people, trans people. Lil poly pansexual papi hello good morning,” she tweeted in 2018, per Billboard.

After she announced that she was having a baby with her guitarist, Javaughn Young-White, Kehlani was criticized by some who claimed that she’d used her sexuality for clout. She dismissed those critics. “I’ve had girlfriends in front of people’s faces, right under their noses, and they weren’t famous and so nobody cared to make it public. So they automatically assume that I must like men more than women,” she told The Guardian, warning that labels of any kind can be problematic. “A lot of people think I’m a rapper,” she said, because she has face tattoos. “Or that I’m ‘F**k this and f**k that’, and as ‘F**k this’ as I can be,” she quipped. In reality: “I’m pretty sensitive,” she said.

Looking to the future, Kehlani is focusing on raising her daughter and helping create positive opportunities for other kids too. “One thing I’m thinking about a lot lately is all the children whose safe haven was after-school programmes and dance class, who have it really rough at home,” she told The Guardian in May 2020. “My happy place when I felt misunderstood or alone was in these programmes where I got to express myself.”

Keep cool this summer with these fantastic deals on floor fans and blinds

FEELING hot, hot, hot as summer comes early?

We can’t yet cool off in a beer garden, unfortunately, but being indoors needn’t get too muggy.

And you don’t have to splash out on expensive air-conditioning units or top-of-the-range fans.

Ice work: This simple hack is one of my favourites. Home Bargains has a fantastic floor fan on offer for £29.99, down from £44.99. If you put a bowl of ice in front of it, you will end up with a fantastic, icy breeze to keep you cool. Lovely.

SAVING: £15

Tapas into this: Using the oven or hob will heat up your kitchen . . . and possibly the rest of your home.

Where possible, use your grill instead or switch to cold, tapas-style dinners. I love spreads of salad, bread and cured meats.

Aldi’s Antipasto Selection is a great snack and, at just £1.69, is far cheaper than options at Waitrose for £7.49.

SAVING: £5.80

Blindingly good: Heat coming in through the windows can turn your home into a total greenhouse. Avoid feeling like a potted plant by investing in blackout blinds, which will block sunlight and help to regulate room temperature. White blinds are best for keeping the heat out, as they help to deflect it. They start from just £8 at John Lewis.

Cool runnings: In hot weather, ditch steamy showers and piping-hot baths. They can overheat you and leave your bathroom full of steam, so you feel even more clammy.

Turning the temperature down a notch is an easy way to dehumidify your home — and save on your energy bill.

The Quarantine Stream: 'Rock Star' is the Dumb 1980s Rock Cousin of 'Boogie Nights', and It's Fun As Hell

(Welcome to The Quarantine Stream, a new series where the /Film team shares what they’ve been watching while social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.)

The Series: Rock Star

Where You Can Stream It: HBO Max

The Pitch: Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg, who found fame in hip hop as the face and shirtless body of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, returns to his musical roots in this ultimate fantasy daydream. The Boogie Nights star treads familiar territory in this story of a copy machine repairman who goes from moonlighting as the lead singer of a heavy metal cover band to the new frontman of the very band that he pays tribute to every week. Who wouldn’t want to see Mark Wahlberg belting out cheesy metal in a leather suit with flames all over it?

Why It’s Essential Viewing: Look, I’m not going to pretend that Rock Star is essential viewing, but it’s a pretty fun way to pass the time if you want a mindless music biz movie with a hell of a soundtrack, including both familiar 1980s rock hits and some catchy but cheesy metal songs by the fictional band Steel Dragon. Though it’s inspired by the real-life story of Tim “Ripper” Owens, a singer in a Judas Priest tribute band who was chosen to replace singer Rob Halford when he left the band, this is a totally fictionalized journey into the world of rock. The movie is all the better for it, because it allows for all the gloriously goofy clichés you’d expect from a movie like this.

Mark Wahlberg plays Chris “Izzy” Cole, a copy machine repairman who has dedicated all of his spare time to worshiping the metal band Steel Dragon. That includes fronting a cover band called Blood Pollution, inspired by one of the band’s signature songs. But the band isn’t nearly as into meticulously recreating the songs and showmanship of Steel Dragon as Chris, and they’d rather play their own original songs. So the band, which includes Timothy Olyphant in leather pants and a horrible wig, kicks Chris out.

But thankfully, some groupies were recording one of Blood Pollution’s concerts, and Steel Dragon just happens to track him down as a candidate to replace their heir lead singer, Bobby Beers (Jason Flemyng), who isn’t quite the metal god that Chris thought he was. From there, it’s a fast roller coaster ride that climbs the ultimate dreams of fame and fortune for a 1980s wannabe rocker. There’s all the sex, drugs and rock and roll he could want, and Chris, now going by the name Izzy, even buys his own Batmobile (from the 1966 show). He has plenty of fun with Dominic West in full British rocker mode, and Timothy Spall being just the right amount of sleazy. But what goes up must come down, and Izzy has some totally predictable lessons to learn about life as a rock star, especially when it comes to maintaining his relationship with his girlfriend Emily (Jenifer Aniston).

Rock Star finds Mark Wahlberg on almost the exact same character arc as Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights. But this isn’t exactly the kind of thoughtful or meaningful piece of cinema that Paul Thomas Anderson delivers. Even so, Rock Star has this entrancing, lively energy of a movie that maybe would have fared better in the mid-90s instead of arriving just a few days before the terrorist attacks of 9/11, a fate that may have ended up making it even more forgettable than it otherwise would have been.

Not every movie or TV show we suggest here in The Quarantine Stream is going to be a masterpiece. Sometimes you just need a nice trashy piece of cinema to help the day go down a little easier. Rock Star is the kind of movie you should sit down to watch with some nachos and a good whiskey, and just let the majesty of Mark Wahlberg’s impressive lip syncing sweep over you. It’s a lot better than thinking about another Daddy’s Home movie. I mean, c’mon, just look at this:

The truth about Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox’s relationship

Some fans might not remember how Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf sparked dating rumors back in 2006 during the filming of Transformers. The gossip was especially juicy as Fox’s character, Mikaela Banes, played the love interest of Shia LaBeouf’s character, Sam Witwicky. Oh, and did we mention Fox was reportedly engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Brian Austin Green when all of this was going on?

Although the two didn’t address the romance speculation at the time, they have discussed it on separate occasions years later. We won’t reveal what they’ve said about each other just yet, but rest assured both Fox and LaBeouf didn’t hold back when asked about the rumors.

If LaBeouf and Fox did hook up, it’s fair for fans to wonder whether they’ll ever get back together. The curiosity is especially understandable now that Fox has split from Green and LaBeouf’s supposed reunion with Mia Goth seemingly went nowhere.

Ready to revisit this juicy piece of pop culture? Here’s the truth about Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox’s relationship.

Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox had an on-set fling

Shia LaBeouf got tongues wagging when in 2011 he confirmed during an interview with Details that he had a fling with Megan Fox. “Look, you’re on the set for six months, with someone who’s rooting to be attracted to you, and you’re rooting to be attracted to them,” he told the mag (via The Hollywood Reporter). “I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation. But the time I spent with Megan was our own thing, and I think you can see the chemistry on screen.”

When asked about whether Fox was with Brian Austin Green, who she married in 2010, he replied, “It was what it was.”

Seven years after LaBeouf’s revealing chat, Fox seconded his take during an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live. “I mean I would confirm that it was romantic,” she said. “I love him. I’ve never been really quiet about that. I love him.” The actor reiterated that the fling never went anywhere after filming.

It’s clear Fox still feels fondness for LaBeouf, as she posted a hilarious throwback photo of him recreating one of her scenes in Transformers. “Once upon a time 13 summers ago,” she captioned the April 2019 post, which shows LaBeouf striking a “sexy” pose as he looks underneath the hood of a car.

Now that we’ve caught you up on Fox’s feelings about LaBeouf, check out where she stands with Machine Gun Kelly.

The truth about Geoffrey Paschel’s shady past

Season 4 of Before the 90 Days has been chock full of drama, especially where it concerns Tennessee resident Geoffrey Paschel, who struck up a relationship with a woman in Russia named Varya Malina. And when the dad visited Varya in her home country, things were uncomfortable from the start — not only did he accuse Varya of using him, but he also expressed anger when she didn’t accept his marriage proposal. But just when you thought things couldn’t get more intense between the two, Geoffrey started dating his best friend Mary when he returned to Tennessee, sparking a competition between his new lady love and Varya. Spoiler alert: In the end, Geoffrey chose Varya over Mary, although it’s not clear if they’re still together as of this writing.

Switching gears a bit, some fans might not know that underneath the couple’s love story lies concerning allegations about Geoffrey’s past relationship with an ex-girlfriend. These claims also raise questions about whether Geoffrey was telling Varya the truth when he said his arrest record just involved drug dealing.

Ready to find out the truth about Geoffrey Paschel’s shady past? Here’s everything you need to know.

Geoffrey Paschel's ex accused him of abuse

Before Geoffrey Paschel met Varya Malina (pictured above right), in June 2019 he was arrested on charges of “aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, interference with emergency calls and vandalism,” Knoxville News Sentinel reported. Geoffrey’s then-girlfriend alleged that during a fight, “he repeatedly bashed/slammed” her head “into the hardwood floors” of her house, according to a petition for protection obtained by the outlet. She continued, “He dragged me through the house by my hair and continued throwing my body into walls and furniture. I know this because of blood on my walls, furniture, etc.” Geoffrey’s ex accused him of disabling her phone before she was able to dial 911 for help.

A paramedic who arrived at the scene concluded that the ex “exhibited common signs of a concussion and she was taken to a local hospital by her neighbor for further medical evaluation,” according to the affidavit obtained by Oxygen.

In the woman’s filing, she also alleged Geoffrey pushed, hit, choked, and verbally threatened her on “four other occasions since September 2018.”

The reality star’s former girlfriend was granted a temporary order of protection, and the case is ongoing as of this writing.

Geoffrey Paschel responds to the allegations

At a January 2020 court hearing, Geoffrey Paschel denied any wrongdoing against his ex, telling Knoxville News Sentinel that the charges are somehow related to his custody case with another woman. He has pled not guilty to the charges, and he believes he’ll win in court. “I don’t feel like I’m going to [beat these charges]; I know I’m going to,” he said during a May 2020 appearance on the Domenick Nati Show. “I know the truth.”

Geoffrey also addressed the claims in a since-deleted Instagram post, writing (via Oxygen), “I can assure you, if any of these fables were true, I would bow out and accept responsibility. Not all is as it seems,” he wrote. “I have been held back from defending myself, but the time has come that I stand up to the incredulous and contrived conditions that keep compounding.”

The Tennesse resident has since ben disinvited from the 90 Day Fiance tell-all, which he is not happy about. “I feel that the network has bowed down to the pressure of a few thousand people as opposed to the, you know, 3.3 million people that watch the show,” he complained to Nati.

At the start of every episode, Bradley introduces the possible Chasers who could be sitting in the hot seat and usually, it is accompanied by some joke or sarcastic remark referencing their stage name.

For Anne ‘The Governess’ or Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, he usually comments on their weight.

Bradley read out the possible answers: “A. Head Baker, B. Star Baker or C. Master Baker.”

Those watching at home saw both Adam and Anne choose B which was the correct answer.

The quiz show host then asked: “Would you do Bake Off, Ann?”

“I don’t think so,” she replied.

“Probably because you’d never see the end product!” Bradley laughed off.

Taking the comment in her stride, Ann remarked: “That’s a fair point.”
