A wedding guest has shared the ‘strictly enforced’ dress code a bride and groom sent her before the big day, frustrated by the lengthy list of rules.

The woman, who anonymously posted in a wedding shaming Facebook group, said that she was excited to be invited to the nuptials of a friend’s son but was shocked when she saw the list of restrictions.

While the invitation said the dress code had to be complied with, the woman wasn’t worried until she logged onto their website to read through the details.

For the gentleman attending, black or navy suit pants were the only option.

‘No tuxedos, no jeans, no khakis. They can’t be any shade of grey either,’ the website read.

White button down shirts were the only tops accepted and they were forbidden from wearing any type of pattern.

‘Suit coats must be worn. No grey, black or navy only,’ the list continued.

Ties had to be of a ‘solid colour’ only and couldn’t be grey, white, ivory, mauve or sage.

Things were made a little more simple for the ladies who simply had to wear a dress, with jumpers and pant suits barred from the formal occasion.

‘Dresses must be no longer than knee length. They can’t be white, ivory, white with a floral pattern, black, beige, black with a pattern, mauve, sage or any form of grey,’ it read.

Anyone who doesn’t follow the rules wouldn’t be admitted into the wedding.

Those who read her post were infuriated by the restrictions and said it was cause the decline the invitation.

‘I guess the only way to go is naked then,’ joked one person.

‘This is cringy. It implies their family/friends don’t know how to dress for a wedding without having it spelled out for them. Also wtf is “no longer than knee length?” Do they want to see Great Aunt Mildred in a miniskirt?’ Said another.

A third added: ‘RSVP yes and show up in exactly what she didn’t want so she turns you away but has to pay for your place anyway’.
