Strictly star in horror hospital dash as he couldnt see, talk or breathe

Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard has recalled the terrifying moment he was hospitalised after he “couldn’t see, talk or breathe”.

The 28-year-old dancer opened up about the major panic attacks he suffered following his ex-girlfriend Abbie Quinnen’s horror accident.

In 2021, Abbie was engulfed in flames while filming a TikTok hack video and suffered third degree burns.

The dancer was rushed to hospital after the stunt, which saw her and then-boyfriend AJ try to cut a bottle in half with a flaming rope, went wrong.

Abbie bravely underwent three skin grafts as doctors desperately fought to treat infections and avoid as much scarring as possible.

Throughout her ordeal, AJ remained by her side and became a “full-time carer”, cleaning her wounds every two hours and moisturising her damaged skin.

However, unfortunately the professional dancer's own mental health suffered.

In a new interview, AJ has recalled the moment he had what he calls “the worst panic attack” one morning.

“I couldn’t see, couldn’t talk, couldn’t breathe,” he told The Mirror.

Not realising what was wrong, AJ was taken to hospital.

“Even they thought I had some crazy disease, they were going to do a lumbar puncture. I was delirious. There was nothing coming out of me. I just sat rocking in the corner in the dark.”

AJ also revealed there was “red flags” leading up to his panic attack but he didn't spot them – including regular headaches and a change in routine.

In hindsight, AJ admitted he wishes he reached out for support sooner about his mental health as he kept claiming that he was OK but he “obviously wasn’t”.

"It took me being taken to hospital and going through multiple panic attacks before I could admit that I needed to talk to somebody,” he added.

Abbie’s dangerous "life-hack" was intended to show how the bottle could be transformed into a vase for their 1million social media followers.

The set-up involved dousing a rope in a flammable chemical, then wrapping it around the bottle and setting it on fire – but the move left a terrified Abbie immersed in the flames.

The fire set her hair and clothes alight, leaving Abbie with third-degree burns and meaning she had to be rushed to hospital.

Abbie and AJ called it quits in October 2022 after three years together.

The pair originally met when Abbie was a dancer on AJ's tour, and they quickly fell for each other.

But AJ reportedly went on to end things following claims he was messaging another woman.

At the time Abbie revealed that she was “heartbroken” at the break-up and confessed her world “fell apart”.
