Aldi’s Specialbuys go on sale every Thursday and Sunday. Yesterday, the discount retailer reintroduced its popular hanging egg chair to its stock, but after going on sale at 8am, the item was sold out by 9am.
Aldi’s hanging egg chair is one of the supermarket’s most popular items as it always sells out quickly whenever it goes on sale.
Earlier this month, up to 35,000 shoppers were stuck in a virtual queue as all of them wanted to get their hands on the egg chair before it sold out.
Soon after that, when the egg chair went on sale again, up to 16,000 customers waited in line for the product.
Yesterday, when the chair was back in stock due to popular demand, more than 87,000 people waited in Aldi’s virtual queue to get their hands on the item.
Some customers waited in a virtual queue for Aldi’s hanging egg chair as early as 6am, even though the product did not go on sale until 8am.
By 8:10am, the item was already sold out.
People waiting in the queue were met with a message from the discount retailer, letting them know that the chair was no longer available.
It is no surprise that the chair sold out in minutes once again this time around as its return to stores coincided with warmer spring weather.

More people are now spending time outdoors and may need more garden furniture, especially as lockdown restrictions have started to ease.
Non-essential shops and pubs are reopening in Scotland today, while pubs are reopening in Wales.
Additionally, the chair’s popularity could be due to the fact that both Mrs Hinch and Stacey Solomon are fans, having posted images of similar chairs on their social media accounts.
Aldi’s hanging egg chair is cheaper than most chairs in similar styles, costing only £149.99.
The chair is grey, features a rattan basket, and comes with a grey cushion.
The basket hangs from a chain attached to a metal stand, which makes it perfect for swinging.
Shoppers expressed their fury at the chair once again selling out on social media yesterday morning.
One person shared an image of Aldi’s sold out notice on Twitter and added the caption: “Easier to get a ticket to Glastonbury.”
Another person wrote: “Go to checkout…. get this message. Then says sold out. This happened last time too. It’s ridiculous. You know the demand for this item. Just get enough.”
One shopper said: “Been refreshing page since 8am, when launched, showing ‘coming soon’ now suddenly sold out!! How, when never available online?”
Another customer added: “Was online since midnight, this is what I found after 8 am, no option to add to basket and now a message stating it’s sold out. That’s it for me never going to buy anything from you.”
“I don’t believe the Egg Chairs ever existed, was mug enough to go through the whole ‘no add to basket button/refresh/website’s crashed/sold out’ panto. Won’t get fooled again,” one angry customer wrote.
