The Duchess of York has sent her public support to Boris Johnson as he continues to battle coronavirus in intensive care.

Sarah Ferguson, 60, thanked the Prime Minister for his ‘strength’ and said she ‘sends him healing’ in a post shared on Instagram this morning. 

Mr Johnson was moved to the Intensive Care Unit at St Thomas’ Hospital last night after his health deteriorated sharply over just two hours, leaving doctors fearing he will need a ventilator.

Today Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, added her public support for the PM

The 55-year-old was transferred to intensive care at 7pm because of breathing difficulties – forcing him to ‘deputise’ Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to take the reins of government.

Politicians and members of the public have taken to social media to share their thoughts and well-wishes for Mr Johnson and his pregnant girlfriend, Carrie Symonds, who is in self-isolation after also testing positive for the virus.

Today Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, added her voice, writing: ‘Boris we send the strong words you spoke about in your speech and quote these lines… 

‘”I, and we, will never take your support for granted. I will make it my mission to work night and day, to work flat-out to prove you right in voting for me.” We repeat your words back to you with gratitude for your strength for us all and send you healing. 

‘Thankfully know, the @nhsengland is the best to help you and so many other people through, who are fighting Covid-19 @borisjohnsonuk @nhsenglandldn #coronavirus.’

Fergie and her daughter Princess Eugenie, 30, have been vocal in the support of NHS staff and other frontline workers during the coronavirus crisis.

The royal mother and daughter have arranged delivery of food to hospital staff in London. 

They both also took to Instagram to praise the Queen following her speech on Sunday night.
