Product recalls are issued when a company’s product is deemed unsafe to customers. B&Q has recently issued an urgent recall for one of its products because it could be harmful to buyers.

The GoodHome Colenso 2000W White Freestanding Fan Heater has been recalled by B&Q due to a “potential risk of electric shock”.

B&Q is also concerned that the heater could be a fire hazard.

On its website, the DIY company writes: “In some cases, the product may overheat causing damage to the case.”

B&Q is asking all customers who have bought the product to bring it back to stores.

The product recall reads: “If you have bought this model of fan heater since September 2020, please immediately stop using it and return to the store when possible for a full refund.

“Alternatively call the helpline,” it adds.

B&Q’s helpline is 0300 303 4482.

The heater was on sale in stores from September 2020 to January 2021 and cost £19.

The heaters were made by B&Q, therefore they weren’t on sale anywhere else.

However, customers should also check if they bought the same heater second-hand from a third-party retailer, such as eBay or on social media, just in case.

Fan heaters are popular during cold months to keep your house warm, and their size makes it easier to move them to wherever you need heated most.

Lidl is also launching a new portable heater as part of its home range.

The supermarket is releasing the Smart Heater in stores tomorrow, February 21.

It is a white ceramic fan heater and costs £49.99.

The Smart Heater is easy to use and can also be connected to Lidl’s Smart Home system using WiFi.

This can be downloaded onto your phone or tablet using the Lidl app, making it possible for you to switch the heater on without having to get up from the sofa.

In other B&Q news, the retailer is offering 20 per cent off selected wooden flooring.

The offer is available online only and can be used to get money off solid wood and real wood top layer flooring, which comes in a range of neutral colours, from black to tan.

Also new at B&Q is the Chalky Finish Wall Paint.

Available in 20 highly pigmented colours, B&Q says that the paint “gives the most luxe, flat matt appearance with easy coverage”.
