Princess Eugenie, 31, and Zara Tindall, 39, are both granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth II, 94, and while neither of them are working members of the monarchy they rank differently within the Royal Family. Their different royal status seems to be impacting how they are choosing to raise their children.

Eugenie was raised with an HRH style and Princess title and is 10th in line to the throne while Zara was brought up as a private citizen and is 20th in line to the throne.

Eugenie gave birth to her first child August Philip Hawke on February 9.

Little August is the Queen and Prince Philip’s, 99, ninth great-grandchild and is 11th in line to the throne.

Zara’s son Lucas Philip was born on March 21 and is her and husband Mike’s third child – they have two daughters Lena, two, and Mia, six.

Lucas is 22nd in line to the throne and highly unlikely to partake in the same royal traditions as Eugenie’s son August.

In the days and weeks since their sons’ births, Eugenie and Zara have already taken different parenting approaches.

Eugenie is a keen Instagram user and shared a photo of her baby boy online just hours after his birth.

In recent weeks the Princess has delighted fans by sharing several adorable photo updates of August on Instagram.

She and Jack shared a stunning trio of photos of them with August to mark his name announcement on February 20.

And since then Eugenie has shared two further photo updates of her little boy – one to mark her first Mother’s Day since becoming a parent on March 14 and another to thank fans for their birthday wishes after she celebrated her 31st birthday last week.

The latest post featured two new pictures of little August with his parents.

In one Eugenie was holding her son while beaming at proud dad Jack and in the other August is captured peering over his father’s shoulder.

Eugenie’s sweet thank you to fans read:  “Thank you for the birthday love yesterday… I got the best present I could ask for!!”

In the picture, August is wearing a knitted cardigan with his name embroidered on the back.

Zara, on the other hand, is yet to share any photos of little Lucas with the public and seems unlikely to do so.

Zara’s birth announcement signalled a total break from royal tradition as she allowed her husband Mike to share the news on his rugby podcast The Good, The Bad and The Rugby.

The proud new dad shared details about Zara’s homebirth that would never have been disclosed by the Palace.

Zara and Eugenie are also expected to take different approaches when it comes to having their sons christened.

While Eugenie is likely to follow tradition and have a royal christening, Zara is expected to have a private ceremony for Lucas as she did with both her daughters Lena and Mia.

This means that while August will observe the 163-year-old royal tradition of wearing the Honiton lace christening gown worn by royal babies since Queen Victoria’s reign, Lucas is unlikely to wear the special dress.
