Prince William and Kate Middleton Just Took Their Kids on an Epic Staycation
2020 has been quite the year for everyone, including the British royal family. When the year opened, the royals were already reeling from Prince Andrew’s ousting from royal life due to his connections to Jeffery Epstien. Then, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry stunned the world by announcing their royal resignation.
Through it all, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge have remained a steady force in The Firm. With the Duke of York and the Sussexes out, a great deal more work has fallen on the future Crowned King and Queen Consort’s shoulders. They appeared to be up to the task.
Even amid quarantine due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the duo never wavered. Now that the U.K. is opening again, the Cambridges have decided to take a break and treat their kids to an epic staycation.
The Cambridge Family had a challenging time in quarantine
When the U.K. went into lockdown due to the pandemic, the Cambridges packed up their children and left London for their country home in Norfolk. From there, they juggled their royal duties virtually while homeschooling their three little ones, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Though the pair have an extra pair of hands due to their live-nanny, Maria Borallo, the duke and duchess have made it clear that it was a challenging time for their family. Kate told the Oak National Academy weekly assembly via Hello!,
We all have our ups and downs, especially when things change in our lives as they have in so many ways recently. This can cause us to have a huge range of different feelings. Sometimes these feelings may be good, but sometimes they may be uncomfortable, and we feel worried, angry or upset. Being unable to see your friends or spend time with your family will undoubtedly be frustrating for you, just as it is for them. It’s been a really difficult time for us all. But it’s important to know that these feelings and frustrations are totally normal, and that they won’t last forever.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have been working non-stop
Since the Sussexes announced their resignation at the top of the year, the Cambridges have rarely had a break, They’ve been working at a hectic pace, proving to Queen Elizabeth that they can be depended on to become the face of the British royal family.
Kate, in particular, has taken on her newfound responsibilities with gusto, shattering any illusions that she doesn’t have the work ethic required of one of the highest-ranking royal women on the planet. Kate and Prince William have taken particular care to have no missteps.
“The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be watching very carefully,” royal author Tom Quinn told Daily Mail. “Especially given that younger royals in the past have got things very badly wrong and they don’t want that to happen again.”
Kate Middleton and Prince William took their kids on an epic staycation
Still, just like everyone, the Cambridges deserve a break. Instead of traveling abroad in a pandemic, the pair took their three little ones on an epic staycation. Mirror is reporting that the couple is in Scilly, an archipelago off the coast of Cornwall in southwest England. Prince William vacationed that as a child in 1989 with his brother and parents.
“They decided on a quick getaway before the children return to school,” an insider revealed. “They were keen to support our travel industry. William and Kate were riding their bicycles, having a laugh. They looked so happy enjoying the weather. I did do a double-take. They were really friendly and said hello.”
It sounds like the perfect mini-getaway.
