From strings of pearls to piles of precious stones and countless golden trinkets, the Royal vaults are lined with an unthinkable treasure trove of wealth amassed over centuries of rule.

And every single stone is carefully recorded by hand in a series of leather bound books in a process started by Queen Victoria herself.

When it comes to wearing this excess of wealth, the Queen and her advisers put plenty of thought into what she and her family choose, with many of the pieces holding special significance.

Often the items she wears are well known, but the broach chose by her Majesty wore to meet President Joe Biden on the weekend is a mystery to Royal watchers.

After celebrating her 95th birthday on Saturday with the annual parade of Trooping The Colour, on Sunday 13 June, The Queen met the President of the United States Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden as part of the G7 Summit.

Naturally, Queen Elizabeth II dressed to impress in a gorgeous pink floral dress with a colour-matching hat as she always does.

However, there was one thing that specifically caught our eyes and that was the twinkling brooch in which Her Majesty accessorised the look with.

The brooch is called the 'Jardine Star Brooch' and is said to have been left to The Queen by someone called Lady Jardine in 1981.

Of her many broaches it is one of Her Majesty's favourites. She has worn it on multiple occasions including the Commonwealth Day service in 2020.

Author Leslie Field in wrote in her book 'The Queen's Jewels' how "In 1981 the Queen was left a late-Victorian diamond star brooch by Lady Jardine, which she has worn on many occasions. It has a collet diamond on a knife-wire between each of its eight points."

Here is where the mystery lies, there is no record of who exactly Lady Jardine was.
