First of all, the TV chef cooked his beef on top of a “trivet” of chopped celery, onions, carrot and garlic.

When the meat is done, remove it from the tray and use a potato masher to crush the veggies into a mash with the left over beef juices.

To make his gravy, the chef then adds a heaped tablespoon of flour to the roasting tray and adds a small glass of red wine.

Then comes Jamie’s magical twist.

The chef commented: “The little secret ingredient that I love is just some beautiful jam.

“That little sweetness really helps the gravy sing.”

So, try throwing in a tablespoon of strawberry or raspberry jam to add richness and a sweet tang to your lovely gravy.

We’d recommend using a seedless jam, like Sainsbury’s seedless raspberry jam, but you can use any you have in the fridge.

The Sainsbury's jar costs just 75p for 454g – that’s just 3p per use.

Jamie then adds a litre of stock and simmers the gravy until the meat is rested.

When the beef has sat for half an hour, pour the remaining juices into the gravy and strain through a sieve.

Voila!

The best gravy you’ve ever tasted!

Your family will be asking for your stellar gravy every week.
