You don’t have to splash out a fortune on cleaning products to make your home look tip top.

Housework whizzes swear by using a 2p pieces to banish grime on different appliances.

The coins can be used on taps, toilets and even on oven trays.

Here are some simple cleaning hacks to help you eliminate stubborn dirt around the house.

Taps

Are your taps covered in hard-to-budge limescale? On the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page, a woman recommended letting a 2p coin to do the work for you.

Instead of splashing out on a fancy limescale remover, the Facebook user scraped the grime away using the bronze piece.

On Facebook, she wrote: “ The 2p tip completely works – and not much hassle.

“To remove just literally scrape the tap with the 2p and it comes right off!

"It will chip off! Then I’ve just wiped with a dry kitchen towel.”

The finished results speak for themselves – they're seriously impressive!

And apparently, the same technique works on plugholes and toilet limescale too.

Oven trays

Last year, a woman's cleaning hack showed how to remove burned grease from an oven tray when all other methods failed.

All you need is a 2p coin and washing up liquid.

Lucy Dashwood shared the nifty trick on TikTok where it was watched more than 125,000 times in just three days.

She said: "So today's tip is how I cleaned an oven tray with burned food and dirt with the help of a 2p coin – here is the before.

"You want to scratch in all different directions, forward, backwards, sideways, all ways."

Lucy added: "I like to give the tray a rinse every now and then just to see which areas I still have to cover."

A mere 30 minutes later, the cleaning hack was complete.

The tray looked brand new – and the cleaning fan saved herself £48 by not buying another similar tray for herself.

Nicely done!

Door handles

Have your door handles lost their shine?

If they’re looking a little rusty you might want to put your loose change to good use.

Using the same technique as seen on baking trays and tap limescale, you can use a 2p coin the scrape away any build up.

Then to make your handle extra shiny, you can buff away at it with hot soapy water.

It’s as easy as that!
