Ashley Cain’s baby girl struggles to breathe as mum Safiyya begs ‘keep going’

Ashley Cain has shared a harrowing video of his beautiful baby girl struggling to breathe as his girlfriend and her mum begged "keep going".

The 30-year-old shared the clip on his official Instagram page which saw his eight-month-old daughter Azaylia struggling to breathe after he and his girlfriend Safiyya were told last month their babies leukaemia can no longer be treated.

Ashley is a former footballer who played for Championship side Coventry City, he also had loan spells at Luton, Oxford United and Mansfield Town where he played as a winger.

Last month they took their daughter home being told she could have "days left to live".

Today Ashley shared the video of Azaylia making distressing noises as she tried to breathe as he said "goodnight world".

Taking to the caption, the brave dad wrote: "Goodnight princess, goodnight world."

Girlfriend and mum Safiyya also updated her followers as she urged her daughter to "keep going" as she treated the little one's eyes.

In the emotional video, she said: "Come on champ, let’s keep going. I love you."

Yesterday Ashley updated his fans on how he believes his daughter could still have "weeks left".

He wrote on his Instagram Story: "We had another very tough day today.

"To be honest, every single day is a very tough day.

"We don't take Azaylia out of our sight for a single second at the moment, caring for her every need."

Ashley continued: "Today was the first time for days that she has been able to open her eyes. The swelling and the blood in her tears is causing her pain and forcing them to stick and shut.

"But with relentless care and improvisation we've managed to help her see the world again. Even though she doesn't have much energy, she loved to see her surroundings today and had the loveliest little play time.

"We even got a smile, which was worth more than anything money can buy.

"As a parent, it's the hardest thing in the world to see your child like this, at home with the painful, inevitable fate pending.

"For some insane reason though, I still have some crazy belief that she will still be with us next week, the week after that, and the week after that.

"But we aren't counting the days right now, we're just doing our best to make those days count."
