The Rock Wants to Make a 'Tiger King' Movie

There’s nothing Hollywood loves more than an absolutely bonkers true story, and Tiger King fits that description to a tee. Fans have been dream casting their version of a Tiger King movie ever since the docuseries first premiered on Netflix on March 20 (personally, my pick for Joe Exotic is Woody Harrelson), and some celebrities have even thrown their own hats into the ring. On Twitter, Dax Shepard and Edward Norton have both stated that they would love to play.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has also expressed his interest in the Tiger King movie, and as Screen Rant reports, the actor recently took to Instagram Live to talk about it.

“I was thoroughly entertained, up to three o’clock in the morning watching that. So much so that I called my agent and I said, ‘Brother, get me the rights to this because I wanna make this movie. I think Seven Bucks can really produce something special and something revealing and informative and entertaining and really dig in to these human beings who have just led this insane life.'”

Johnson continued, “And then he said, ‘Nope, can’t do it, somebody else snatched the rights up.’ I was like, ‘Ah! Sh-t.’ Well, somebody else will make that movie.”

It turns out that the rights to the Tiger Story had been secured before the documentary premiered, and a limited series based on the doc will be produced by Kate McKinnon. McKinnon will also play Carole Baskin, a transformation that fans are excited to see. There’s been no word yet on who will play the other characters or when the series will premiere, but we can’t wait to see how it turns out.
