Talking Kitty Cat YouTube star Steve Cash dies aged 40

YouTuber Steve Cash, also known as the star behind the Talking Kitty Cat videos, has died at age 40.

His wife Celia DeCosta Cash announced the sad news of his death in a Facebook post, confirming that he had died by suicide.

I just lost my best friend, my sidekick, my lover, my mentor, my absolute everything this morning.

‘I’m so sad to say, my husband, Steve Cash, took his own life this morning 4/16/2020,’ she wrote.

‘Please understand, give the family time to grieve, but know that Steve is no longer in pain.’

Celia added on Steve’s Twitter: ‘Hello everybody… This is Steve’s wife. As you already know Steve took his life.

Steve entertained his two million viewers on YouTube with videos of his cat Sylvester, and has previously opened up about his mental health and his struggles with bipolar disorder.

He has been on YouTube since 2007, just two years after the site began.

Fans have been paying tribute to the star on social media and sending love to Celia.

One writing: ‘I’m really sorry for you. I’m here for you. Talking kitty cat series have helped me going through my tough time when I’m depressed and anxious. It brought me so much joy.’

‘I’m so sorry for this unimaginably painful loss,’ another wrote.

‘Steve brought our small family so much joy and laughter, and he will be missed. I wish you all so much love and strength to get through this. Please remember to care for yourself, and reach out to someone if you need to.’

One more said: ‘I am very sorry to hear of your loss right now. His videos were such a big involvement in my childhood on YouTube.

‘ I’ve been watching his vids for a solid decade now and they’ve always cracked me up. Much love to yourself and your family.’
