The One Show: Paddy McGuinness takes his top off live on air

Paddy McGuinness is a regular on our screens over the years for hosting the popular dating series Take Me Out. He has since become known for hosting as part Top Gear alongside Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris. Tonight Paddy will ring in the New Year on his show The Big New Year’s In, but what is known of his family life?

Does Paddy McGuinness have a son?

The Top Gear presenter shares son Leo with The Real Housewives Of Cheshire star Christine Martin.

Christine gave birth to Leo and his twin sister Penelope two years after she and Paddy tied the knot in 2013.

The couple also have daughter Felicity together whom they welcomed in 2016.

Paddy and Christine have previously spoken about how their twins Penelope and Leo, as well as daughter Felicity, have autism.

While appearing on Loose Women back in February, Christine spoke candidly of their condition as she shared a poem she had written for her children.

She wrote: “I am so proud to be your mummy, you are everything to me.
“All three of you are thriving with ASD [Autistic Spectrum Disorder]. I will never try and change you, you are perfect as you are.

“Mummy is going to change the world to understand her superstars. You are sensitive, you are strong, and you have such a special bond.

“You are funny and talented, cheeky and sweet, you all love your toys to be kept extra neat.”

She continued: “Shining brighter than the stars above. You are special, so wanted and oh so loved.

“Leo, Penelope and Felicity, you are unaware of the positive impact you have, even on the tough days you even make me laugh.

“My trio, my babies, my fabulous three. Together we are a strong, proud, unique family.”

Paddy has also spoken out on their children’s condition and how it has put a strain on his marriage to Christine.

Talking in 2018, Paddy said: “It’s very, very, very, very difficult, you know any parent with children with any kind of special needs is very difficult…

“With the autism, for me, the more I saw it and the more they had really bad days, I’d get so down, you know, I’d be like, depression and different things would wash over me.”

Christine has since addressed why she and Paddy would not be adding to their family in the future.

In a Q&A post to her Instagram last week, a fan asked: “Do you and Paddy have any plans on extending the family?”

The Real Housewives Of Cheshire star admitted: “No. I would have loved one more, but Mr Mc is snipped.

“It is the right decision for our family, our hands are full with three.”

The Big New Year’s In will air tonight on BBC One from 9pm.
