Carol Vorderman, 60, jokingly opened up about why she thinks her two marriages failed. Revealing that her two ex husbands weren’t dancers, she wondered whether that was why it didn’t work out.

Neither of them danced! Maybe that was the thing…

She made the admission while chatting with her co-stars about their best dancing stories on her BBC Wales radio show, with some input from her listeners too.

After a fan text in with a memorable story about a dance night on a cruise ship where they were thrown from side to side whilst trying to do a line dance, the former Countdown star giggled.

“You remember those nights where you danced and danced,” she beamed.

“I can even remember certain people that I danced with!”

Carol paused before continuing: “Even thought I’ve had a couple of marriages…” she whispered.

“Neither of them danced!

“Maybe that was the thing… maybe you got it right with your wedding vows after all,” she told her co-stars.

The blonde bombshell’s relationship status has become public interest ever since she made her debut on the Channel 4 quiz show in 1982.

She has since been married twice, the first to former international rugby league player Christopher Mather in 1985, which lasted just 12 months.

She later married management consultant Patrick King in 1990, before divorcing in 2000 and the pair have two children; Katie and Cameron.

Despite having become one of the UK’s high-profile female celebrities, she has quite rightly chosen to keep her private life just that – private – and vowed never to speak about her reasons regarding her divorces.

She told Woman Magazine in a previous interview: “I never said why my marriage [to Patrick] broke down and we’d agreed never to talk about it publicly.

“The divorce is a regret of mine and my mum thinks that we should have stayed together.

“He’s now remarried so there’s no chance of us getting back together.”

She added: “Had my career not taken off like it did, Paddy and I probably wouldn’t have split up.”

Looking back, Carol said she had had a “happy marriage” to her second spouse: “It was blissfully happy and then it wasn’t.

“But I refuse to see it as a failure, it was just a chapter that ended.”

Following their split, Carol then went on to date Daily Mail columnist and PR consultant Des Kelly, living together in London from 2001.

They separated in December 2006, announcing their relationship was over and the split was an amicable one in 2007.

Carol then had an on-off relationship with Graham ‘Duffy’ Duff, who was 14 years her junior, in 2012.

The duo split in 2016, in which she insisted their age gap contributed towards their break-up.
