We would forgive Marvin Humes for feeling a little tired when we speak. After all, the 35-year-old is once again contending with sleepless nights, having just welcomed his third child with wife of eight years Rochelle Humes.

Rochelle, 31, gave birth to baby Blake last month – a little brother for the couple’s daughters Alaia-Mai, seven, and three-year-old Valentina.

But when we catch-up with JLS star Marvin, there’s not a single yawn in sight, as the besotted new dad excitedly tells us all about their new bundle of joy.

“Blake’s really good,” Marvin says. “He’s sleeping great, feeding great and is already growing up. It’s only been a few weeks, but he’s already changed so much.”

That enthusiasm is typical of the go-getting TV power couple, who by no means like doing things by halves. This year alone, the presenters have been juggling their increasingly hectic work schedules – with shows including The Hit List and This Morning – alongside some other pretty exciting changes.

Just before welcoming baby Blake, Marvin and Rochelle packed up their belongings and moved house, swapping their Essex property for a new family home in London.

Here, Marvin tells us about their latest chapter, the sweet gift Frank Lampard gave baby Blake and his secret acting ambition…

Hi Marvin. How does it feel to have another boy in the house?

Roch and I are now outnumbered – three children to the two of us. It’s really amazing and great that we’ve got a boy. I’m still outnumbered, but at least I’ll have a bit of back up when it comes to the remote control and watching football in the future.

Is he a good baby?

He wakes up once in the night for a feed at 3am, so I can’t really say they are sleepless nights.

Does he look like you or Rochelle?

When we were in the hospital, Blake was sleeping and I fell asleep, too. Roch said she looked at us and we looked exactly the same. My mum also says he’s the spitting image of me when I was a baby. But Rochelle’s mum says the same about her.

Has the experience given you even more love for Rochelle?

Massively. Every time I’m just in awe of how amazing she is. When we got engaged, you feel closer, then you get married and feel even closer. Then you have kids and every single time you become closer and closer as a couple, and my levels of respect for her go through the roof.

How else have things changed with three children?

Because he’s our third one, you are a lot more relaxed. The first time around with Alaia, you literally sit there and watch them and make sure they’re breathing every minute, but with Blake we take it in our stride.

Have you noticed any differences between having a son to having daughters?

He’s definitely brought a different dynamic and changing his nappies has been interesting! I’ve been so used to changing the girls’ nappies and I’d heard stories about boys spraying and the fountain, and that’s happened to me many times. I’ve learned a little trick now to put a baby wipe over him and hopefully it doesn’t go all over me.

Which father and son days out are you most looking forward to when Blake grows up?

I know it’s cliché, but I’m a big football fan. My girls wind me up and say they’re Arsenal fans because I’m a Chelsea fan. So when Blake was born, Frank Lampard sent me a signed Baby-gro and one that wasn’t signed. The other day, we sat down and watched the football together, and he had the Baby-gro on. He was only awake for a couple of minutes but it was a nice moment. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

Are the girls enjoying being big sisters?

They literally don’t leave him alone and they fight over who can hold him. They’re great big sisters already, helping out with bath time, changing nappies and bottles. They’re super-excited that he’s here and having a newborn hasn’t worn off yet.

Would they say you’re a cool dad?

I try to be. I’m sure there’s times when I embarrass my seven-year-old. She’s always doing the TikTok dancing and I wind her up by telling her, “I invented that dance move.” And she says, “Shut up, Dad!”

Little does she know you were a famous pop star…

I’ve used that card a couple of times, but she’s really not that fussed. My three-year-old is impressed by it. When she saw me and the boys [JLS] performing earlier in the year, it was the first time she’d ever seen me and her uncles together. It was something new. I could see her thinking, “Ah, they’re quite good at this actually.”

Are you and Rochelle going to take longer paternity and maternity leaves to spend time together as a family?

I had two weeks off and then I went back to doing my radio show. Roch is off for the rest of the year and she’ll slowly get back into work in the new year. This year has been terrible on one hand, but it’s been nice that we’ve been able to spend so much time together as a family.

You’ve done so much in your career, is there anything else you’d love to get involved in?

When I was younger, I used to do a bit of acting and somebody sent me a clip on Twitter the other day of when I was in Holby City. Maybe one day I could do some acting again.

What’s your dream role?

Peaky Blinders is one of my favourite shows. I love the fashion – old-school tailoring with the flat caps.

You recently launched your third fashion edit with Next. What’s your favourite piece?

The flight jacket. I wore it recently with a hoodie underneath. You can pretty much wear it all year round and it’s really comfortable and warm.

If you could choose one celebrity to wear your clothes, who would it be?

Idris Elba. He’s super-cool and is always looking great whether he’s acting or DJing.

Do you and Rochelle give each other fashion advice?

I go to her if I put on an outfit to ask, “Does this look good?” She doesn’t really have to do that to me, but the odd time she might do, I have to think about what the right answer is.

Do you go shopping together?

Most of the time when we go shopping, it’s for the kids. We went to Selfridges recently to do a bit of shopping. We had the kids with us and, as always, it turned into being on the toy floor and spending 45 minutes putting a Build-A-Bear together. It’s not so much focused on us any more, but when we have some time we enjoy going shopping together.
