Former Olympian champion Greg Rutherford, 34, took to social media to reveal that he and his fiance have named their baby daughter Daphne. The retired athlete announced the arrival of his baby daughter with fiance Susie Verrill a couple of days ago but did not reveal her name or when exactly she was born. The athlete who already has Milo, six and Rex, three, with his partner, took to Instagram where he revealed that the new arrival was “stealing our hearts” in a sweet carousel post.
Welcome to the world my darling Daphne
The Olympic athlete posted a sweet picture of him beaming down at the new arrival who he was holding in his arms.
He captioned the post: “Welcome to the world my darling Daphne.”
The retired track star went on to thank his 160,000 fans for their kind words.
“Thank you so much for your wonderful messages. We’re so happy she’s here and stealing our hearts.”
Celebrity friends of the couple were quick to comment on the post and wish the new parents congratulations.
Pop-singer Anastasia wrote: “Daddy’s little angels has arrived,” alongside a heart emoji.
Fellow Olympian Iwan Thomas commented: “Awesome mate… proper full family now.”
Geordie Shore star Vickie Pattison wrote: “Congrats hun! She’s wonderful.”
A day ago Susie took to Instagram to confirm the arrival of the couple’s little girl.
She wrote: “We’ve been settling in with the new arrival at home for a few days now and couldn’t be happier.
“Baby spam will no doubt be imminent but in the meantime here’s some freshly born tootsies”, accompanied by a video of her babies feet.
Greg announced that he and Susie were expecting a third child in December last year.

The mum-of-three had previously spoken about having a “long, tough” road ahead of her during her third pregnancy as she struggled with Hyperemesis gravidarum.
The NHS cites the condition as excessive nausea and vomiting which can often need hospital treatment.
In February the Olympic gold medalist took to Instagram to reveal that his fiance was in the hospital after the couple grew worried that their baby had stopped moving.
Greg explained that Susie realised she hadn’t felt the baby move in a while and decided to head to hospital where the staff thankfully could find the heartbeat.
The couple met in 2012 before going on a first date bowling.
In 2014 they welcomed son Milo, followed shortly after by Rex in 2017.
Two years later, Greg proposed to Susie during a hike in Arizona.
Despite announcing plans to marry in the sunny state in 2020, the couple had to postpone their nuptials due to the coronavirus pandemic.
