Fans aren’t happy about how Dr. Neil Melendez‘s story was wrapped up on the season finale of The Good Doctor.
In fact, they’re furious about how the character, played by Nicholas Gonzalez, was killed off.
Nick opened up to TVLine about saying goodbye to the character and show, revealing it was a mutual decision and there are no hard feelings.
“[It] just kind of came at a good time, you know? There’s a lot about this job that I loved and was honored to do, and a lot of that came out of the family that we created behind the scenes,” he explained. “But there also comes a time when you feel it’s time to move on, and I feel like I’m leaving Good Doctor at a really great place.”
While it was a mutual decision, fans have been voicing their outrage at having him leave on social media.
“This some straight BS if Melendez die. Who at the network decided this mess? #TheGoodDoctor,” one tweeted.
Another added that they’re not convinced of his death just yet.
“Ok..so here is what I find odd. They show Claire coming out of Melendez’s room, but nobody called time of death, and they never even covered up his body with the sheet. Plus they left the door wide opened..I’m not convinced he’s dead…there. ..I Said it. #TheGoodDoctor”
