Coronation Street and Midsomer Murders actor Frank Mills dies aged 93

Coronation Street and Midsomer Murders star Frank Mills has died aged 93.

The actor, who played Billy Williams in the popular soap opera, passed away earlier this month on 11 February as his obituary in the Maldon Standard says: "Albert Frank "Frank" Sadly passed away on 11th February, aged 93 years.

"Much loved Father to Paula and Ruth, Grandad to Amy, Phil and Lizi, and Great Grandad to Kara and Jack.

"Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, private funeral will take place on Monday 8th March, with a full Memorial Service planned for later in the year as a celebration of Frank's life.

"Flowers or donations, if desired, payable to Farleigh Hospice may be sent c/o G W Hardy & Son, The Green, Finchingfield, Essex CM7 4JS."

Born in London in 1927, the actor rose to fame by starring in numerous films and TV series over the years, including The Brief, The Palace and Flambards.

He also played Commissionaire Peterson in The Blue Carbuncle episode of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes back in 2984.

Before he became known as Billy Williams, Betty's husband from 1995 to 1997, Coronation Street, Frank portrayed Mission Circuit superintendent Ivor Mortlake on the show.
