Chris Evans: Virgin Radio host recalls coronavirus symptoms which spread around family
Chris Evans, 53, made quite the revelation on his Tuesday morning Virgin Radio show, after he divulged he might have contacted the virus. He recalled the period a few weeks ago where everyone had this mysterious flu-like illness, but no one knew what it was.
I said this a couple of weeks ago… I think I’ve had it [coronavirus]

But the admission might have come as a bit of a shock to many listeners, who are currently isolating themselves under government advice, for fear of spreading the virus further.
With the show’s location based in London Bridge, Chris and his team decided to create a temporary studio away from the central London news tower, to avoid travelling into the capital unnecessary.
The new studio is currently on the host’s boat that he keeps moored at the bottom o his garden on the Thames, and the conversation started after he announced they probably wouldn’t be needing it anymore.
“I went to go and check on the studio on the boat, which is still there if we require it, but don’t think we will,” he said.

“I said this a couple of weeks ago… I think I’ve had it [coronavirus].
“I’m not saying I’m qualified to say this though,” he giggled.
“So many of us and this really weird cold, two or three weeks ago and if four out of five most prominent people on the telly talking about coronavirus, if they can get it – they’re only mild symptoms, a bit of a sniffle and dry cough…” He shrugged, referring to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who announced he had tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
Chris continued to describe the symptoms he experienced during a bout of the mystery illness that swept the UK not so long ago.
“I didn’t get the fever or the dry cough, that’s why I didn’t self-isolate,” he explained.
“Noah had the fever and he self-isolated before that we all had to for 14 days.
But by that time Tash had this cough and almost everybody you saw not telly reporting on the coronavirus looked red-faced and runny-eyed – I think lots of us have had it!”
There are a fair few rumours based on the same theory Chris had going round social media, but there’s no proof that coronavirus was indeed in the UK before being discovered in the Chinese province of Wuhan at the beginning of the year.

Chris Evans: Virgin Radio host receives abuse over social distancing
She said the UK had to be “responsible” in its actions and reduce social distancing measures “gradually”.
But she warned the public: “We must not then suddenly revert to our normal way of living. That would be quite dangerous.”
“If we stop then all of our efforts will be wasted and we could potentially see a second peak. So, over time, probably over the next six months, we will have a three-week review. We will see where we are going.”
