I’m a laundry expert and make my own scent boosters, it takes minutes to make and lasts forever | The Sun

WITH the cost of living crisis keeping everyone on their toes, one woman took it upon herself to teach the masses on how to save on laundry days.

Taking to her social media account, Elnaz Hamai explained that there’s a simple method to make scent boosters without forking out at the shops.

“Only with a few ingredients we can make our own natural laundry scent boosters,” she told viewers.

Placing a large bowl on a countertop, she then poured 1 cup of Epsom salt in it.

Explaining the benefits, she shared: “Epsom salts help with the scent of your clothes and soften them.”

She then brought out a small bottle of lemon essential oil that’s safe for skin and shared that you can use between 20 and 30 drops of it in the mixture.

“Adding essential oils to your laundry can boost the scent for days,” she said.

“And last, you’re adding one fourth of a cup of baking soda. Baking soda can neutralise odour and make your whites whiter and your coloured clothes brighter.”

Once it’s all been mixed well, you can then transfer it into a container.

“Add a quarter cup to your load every time,” she added as the video came to an end.

People were quick to comment on her genius laundry hack as one person wrote: “It’s a wonderful hack. We can save a lot too.”

TikTok user @elnazhamai replied: “Yes definitely. Remember this is not to replace your detergent. This only gives your laundry great smell.”

Another person wrote: “Just add a few drops of essential oil to the softener reservoir with vinegar and drops to wool dryer balls. Grapefruit smells clean!”

A third then asked: “wow whered you get that massive bag of baking soda from,” to which she replied by saying it was from Costco.

While a fourth argued: “It’s not the same can’t smell anything on your clothes so just a waste of money really. Just do away with scent boosters full stop”.

But Elnaz immediately hit back: “I disagree. I can smell the freshness and it’s a great way to go natural. If it doesn’t work for you then you can just use the beads,” followed by a smiling face emoji.
